Just to let you all know I confirmed dinner at Anthony's for 8:30. The reservation is for 25 people at this point- so we do have the leeway to include Wendy's friend and if my dh can decide whether or not to come  there will be room for him too. He isn't sure about having dinner with a bunch of us "foodies". The reservation is under the name "Park".
Question- what was decided about the rendevous at the hotel bar....was there a specific time or anything?

Hotel check in time is at 3pm and Sandy and I planned on being there soon after so she can shower and freshen up after that flight. Depending on what time others begin arriving, I was thinking we said 6pm or so in the bar? Then walking/driving/cabbing/bussing to dinner? Personally, I can't walk to dinner, so I'll be driving and using their parking garage or cabbing over. ;)

I'll be getting to the hotel probably between 3 and 4, so I'll bail on the early rendezvous, but will be happy to meet up with people at the bar at 6ish.
And I checked Yahoo maps - the restaurant is 1 mile from the hotel, so I don't mind walking if there are others that want to walk over.
Has there been any discussion of parking options at the hotel? The website only says "Parking available for a fee." Is it all valet? Or is there self-parking? DH will be riding his motorcycle up and I'm concerned about where he'll be able to park it.

Eva, I think the parking garage is down below (basement/lower floors) of the hotel.
You definitely have a walking companion to dinner!
Maureen and I will be checking into the hotel around 3:00 as well. If anyone is still interested in an earlier rendez-vous time (say, between 3:30-4:00) let me know. I'd like to be back at the hotel by 5:00 to freshen up, but I could go for a late afternoon walk to get the lay of the land around our hotel.

Julie,
If I make it to the hotel as expected, I'd love to join you for an afternoon walk around downtown. But don't wait for me or anything. If you're meeting others at a set time/place, just let me know when and where, and if I get there on time, I'll join you. :)

I'm still working on getting there early, Julie. :) I'll let you know by tomorrow what I've worked out. And I'm hip to walking to dinner if it's not pouring, Eva.

Another walker here. I'll be getting in earlier in the day (probably be at the hotel by 1 PM) and hanging out with Kathryn (and probably Wendy since we're arriving at the same time). Be happy to meet up with anyone else for anything else before 6.

Six at the bar sounds great to me too! Peggy and I are going to meet in the lobby around 3 ish too.
Sushibones, I hope that we are still on to ride to the hotel together and hang out with Kathryn-and maybe grab a bit of lunch. I also would prefer to walk to dinner as well. I just won't get too happy at at the bar beforehand.:p

OMG!!! I am so excited! As Wendy said, I should be arriving at the hotel around 3pm. Would love to meet everyone early and go for a walk to check out the shopping (etc) opportunities around the hotel. Am also interested in walking to the restaurant for dinner. Just name a time and place to meet. Can't believe it is only a few days away!!
Peggy (who really needs to get away for a few days!!:o )

I have a feeling I'm going to be a party pooper on this part of it, but I'm probably not gonna be able to do the walking thing. :o I've got a few physical limitations on a mile long walk on hills, so I may have to meet everyone there! :o
Eva, the parking garage is below, and the entrance is from Madison. There is a fee, but I'm still not sure exactly how much it is. If you take the exit 164B off I-5 North, then the Madison exit, go to the stop sign at Madison, turn left and go across the freeway, then go through the next light and then you'll turn left into their parking garage. As far as I know you can go right in without valet.

Jewel, no one is thinking you're a party pooper at all! :( Everyone has to do what's within their capabilities. No judgement. xoxo
I posted on the other thread that I called and the parking is $19 a day in their garage. I'm guessing that's the best option, or is there a cheaper pay lot nearby that's decent? Sounds like we're in a pretty ok neighborhood...

Jewel,
Please do not consider yourself a party pooper. As Lisa said, we do need to work within our capabilities.

Jewel, if I can be a party-pooper for the winery, you can be a party-pooper for walking. :p Remember, we're all friends here.
Wendy, I am still planning on meeting you and going to the hotel with you.

Susan, that sounds great. If you want, I can send an email w/photo within the next couple of days. Peggy & I did this so that we don't go doddering around.
Kathryn, I think that we will be needing lunch when we get there. Meeting up in the hotel would be nice.

Wendy,
You mean you don't want me to stand outside your gate at the airport with my "Food Groupie" sign? :p
Without the picture I suppose it's possible I might pick up some other food fanatic. What the heck, the more the merrier, what? And is that all it takes to stop doddering? A picture? And here I thought doddering was caused by creeping senility. Maybe I'm the one that ought to send the picture!

Should we all just tape our favorite Cooking Light magazine cover to our boobs or something?

Sorry, what is the date? I know it's soon.
Never mind. I called the restaraunt and found out it is this coming Friday (June 21st). We'll be there. See you then.

Ladies-
If it's cool, at the Friday dinner, my mom will be pinch-hitting for DH. He can't get away this weekend, after all, and my mom's going to pick me up at the Amtrak station & donate her car to the cause this weekend, so I'd better feed her :D. Did I mention how excited I'm getting about this weekend? :D
