My DH and I are chartering a 34 foot sailboat
on the Chesapeake the first week of July.
We leave from Annapolis and sail to
St. Michaels. Does anyone have any
restaurant recommendations?

When are you leaving? I know that Purple Orchid in Annapolis is good. There's another good restaurant, but I can't think of the name. I'll research and get back to you tomorrow. Do you want Annapolis or St.Michael's restaurants?

Hi Vanessa,
We'll be staying 2 nights in Annapolis and 4 nights in St. Michael's
so any recommendations on either would be great. Thanks for your reply.

Vanessa, I didn't know there was a Purple Orchid in Annapolis! Where is it? Myself, my DF, and my parents love the Purple Orchid at Inner Harbor in Baltimore. In fact it's my mother's favorite restaurant! I would assume it's the same restaurant.

Annapolis has so many great restaurant in the City Dock area. I think I've eaten in all of them over the years and there isn't a bad one in the lot. Chick and Ruth's on Main St. is a fun place for breakfast. It's one of the smallest restaurants in the world, but the owner is usually there on the weekend and goes to the tables and performs magic tricks. It's a nice, homey kind of place. Griffin's on the City Dock is really good as is the Middletown Tavern (if you can get past the animal heads hanging every where). Buddy's on Main St. has a wonderful and inexpensive Sunday buffet. I've been to St. Micheal's, but it was a while ago and I don't remember any restaurant names. We eat at a place on the water near the lighthouse that was really good.

Have a fun trip--it's sounds great!

http://www.hometownannapolis.com/lw_restaurants.html

this link is for the restaurant guide put out by the local newspaper in annapolis (also check out the reviews on the same site under entertainment i think).

you might try Lewnes Steak House in eastport for the best steak(just across the creek from annapolis), Deep Creek Restaurant in arnold for the best crab cakes and nice waterfront dining(a 15 minute drive from annapolis), Northwoods Restaurant in annapolis for an upscale dinner with great midweek prices, Cantler's Riverside Inn for brown paper on the table sitting with people you don't know seafood/waterfront dining, Tsunami in annapolis for awesome sushi or the The Sputnik Cafe in Crownsville for a fun eclectic experience with live music many nights. you can travel by boat to both Riverside and Deep Creek with advance notice i believe.

have fun, annapolis is a great town!

I have stayed at the Inn At Perry Cabin in St. Michaels and the whole experience was excellent. Food and lodging. Get ready to be pampered if you go....

I'll have to check about the Purple Orchid in Annapolis. I have never gone, but a friend of mine recommended it and I THOUGHT he said Annapolis, since he lives there!

I live just up the road from St Michaels, my hubby works at the museum there, so here are my St Ms recommendations from a local (in order of my preference, the ones I have been to)

for dinner
Town Dock Restaurant (on the harbor)
Tavern on Talbot (Talbot St)
208 Talbot (Talbot St, expensive but worth it)
The restaurant in the Harbor Inn & Marina (can't remember the name)
St Michaels Crab House

other meals
Carpenter Street Saloon and Poppi's (really local joints) offer good breakfast options, and there's a deli with good sandwiches.

note that Perry Cabin is undergoing restorations and is probably closed - be sure to call them first.

Enjoy!
