View Full Version : Anyone heard from MrsReber?
well, it's getting to be that time for her, you know... :o
she is usually much more active on the BB, and i noticed she last posted early this morning...
Susan, i'm certainly not suggesting you check in every hour (i think you have better things to do...)!!!!!
just wondering if you're giving birth to that new baby... if so, i'm wishing you a speedy and pain-free labor.

Sorry guys, I'm still here! My due date is July 10th, but things have already started progressing. I'm pretty much just waiting for the baby to tell me when. I hope it's soon!!! I'm very uncomfortable. I don't think it'll be today. I realize now that I should've known last time since I was having sporadic sharp pains in my back. I'm figuring there will be some kind of sign this time, too!

06-19-2002, 09:32 AM
wow, July 10...
do you really want the baby to come this early? maybe he/she should "cook" a little longer. but I know why you are ready for the baby to be born. and I am sure it will happen when he/she is ready.
here's to an early arrival!
MrsReber
06-19-2002, 10:20 AM
The last baby was just shy of 2 weeks early so it's fine if the baby comes now. I know it's best to wait for the baby's sake. I'm hanging in there! Well, most of the time. Sometimes I just want to get away from everything!

julia was 5 days late. but that is normal for a first pregnancy. and for some reason, I never really got that impatient about it. (I think I was nervous about the labor/birth or nervous about being a mom. turned out there was nothing to worry about.)
sounds like you have the early gene. lucky you!

Susan, I'll also send you my early delivery wishes. Your baby#2 has already "cooked" longer than Jared, so I'm sure s/he will be just as healthy as can be! :)
You know, I haven't seen a post from Barbara (BosunsWife) yet today...

I'm still here unfortunately LOL!
My MIL arrived on Monday so I'm taking advantage of having a babysitter for DD and am getting out of the house as much as I can before the baby is born. My doctor told me that he will probably strip my membranes on Monday if I haven't started to dilate (actual due date is Wednesday).
Today I'm off for a haircut and pedicure. Later this weekend I'm going in for a manicure and facial - yippee!

Thanks for the wishes. Can we get some "painless" wishes too?? :D
Who knows- we could give birth on the same day with the way things are going. Wouldn't that be something?

I agree ! Take it from someone who has had 2 premies that you really don't want to go too early!
Of coarse I'm also the one who says the last month is the worst and that's from someone who really never made to the last month!
MrsReber
06-21-2002, 08:18 AM
The last month IS the worst! DH has been so wonderful. I tell him I'm depressed and feel trapped in this body that can't do anything without some kind of pain. Then I think "gee, I have to go through more pain to get out of the current pain". Argh! I can't win. He's been so sweet and supportive, though, telling me to take all the time I need to get back into shape because he still finds me attractive and that he'll do his best to be a good coach. Then he tells me we'll be fine with 2 babies and not to worry about it. I'm over 37 weeks now, so I think anytime is really fine. I'm quite sure from all the movement I feel that this is one healthy child. Now, if she/he would only get that foot out of my ribs!!!

06-23-2002, 01:09 PM
Thanks, Krista! I am definitely staying cool! I didn't even venture out past my front porch today. It is way too hot and humid. I've been inside with the shades down and the air on. It is a bit dreary, but I can't even breathe out there. Casey is not herself today, either. She took one nap at 10:00 this morning until 11:30 and she's sleeping again. I think it's the tooth that's poking through on the bottom. That's okay, though! I'm making a lemon meringe pie today. I HAVE to have one!
Barbara, I don't know how you live everyday in the heat! Hope you're in the a/c as well!

Wow, gee, I was really missed! :) My life never seemed so exciting to me, but all of you are anxiously awaiting my news! At least you have Barbara's new baby to satisfy you for now :D !!
Yes, indeed, we did go shopping for strollers. I was very tired afterwards and so was Casey. We came home and napped. 9 days from the due date and counting. This child, in my opinion, is now officially late. Casey had the decency to show up 10 days early and not put me through this agony! Oh well, must be a boy, no? Believe me, I'm as anxious as everyone else to find out if we have a boy or a girl!

Susan, please start posting your daily agenda, including the times that we can expect you on the BB. That way we won't keep having these false alarms...:p
MrsReber
07-02-2002, 07:00 AM
Wake up: 2:00 am, turn on air conditioner, close window. DH said there was a "nice breeze" coming in. Ha ha ha- yeah, maybe once every hour!!
Wake up at 3:12am; 4:15am, 5:00am- try to turn over without too much pain (various trips to the bathroom and to check on Casey while I'm up at all these times)
6:00: DH's alarm goes off. I wake up, he turns off alarm, goes back to asleep.
6:15: Casey wakes up. DH wakes up. I get baby (after trip to bathroom), DH goes back to sleep.
6:30: Casey and I wake DH up. He plays with her, I go to the bathroom.
6:45: Dress Casey and pack her lunch for daycare.
7:10: Casey's going to daycare, I eat breakfast.
8:00 am: start having contractions and go to hospital to have baby. Oh, wait, that didn't happen. Well, it IS my agenda. I can plan it that way, can't I?? :D
I have a feeling the doctor will say I'm still 2-3cm dilated, no change, but I'll check in later anyway!!!

Well, I'm here at home now. And guess what? I have, at this moment, for the second time today......2 sleeping children! Yes, 2! I have to make my story short and sweet- good thing I can type fast! I barely slept Thursday night. I was horribly uncomfortable. I got up Friday morning around 7:15 and had cramps in my back. Then I told DH if I got another pain in 15 minutes, we'd probably be having a baby that day. At 8:30, I called my mom and told her she better come get Casey. Talked to the doctor at 9:30 and told him the contractions were 20 minutes apart, but I was pretty sure my water was leaking and my last labor was very fast. He said I should see him at the hospital and he'd check it out. Mom got here at 10:00 for Casey and we left for the hospital. Got to the hospital at 10:30 and on the way there, I noticed the pains were coming every 5 minutes. I wasn't even in bad pain, I was just uncomfortable. We checked into the hospital, they got me in a room and I saw the doctor at 11:00. I was 5 cm dilated. They started IV fluids (I have to have IV antibiotics) and then my hero, Mr. Epidural, came in. I had maybe four really strong contractions that made me want to cry and the rest was a piece of cake. Doctor came back at 12:30, said "you're 10 cm" and we started pushing. I felt the baby's head right there at about 12:50, but my doctor had two other women in labor and two other babies just delivered. It was quite a busy day there. Anyway, it was just us and the nurse so she told me to stop pushing so she could get the doctor from the other room. He came back and was surprised. It would only take about 2 more pushes to get the baby out. Then he noticed the cord was around the baby's neck so I had to stop pushing for a few contractions. I could feel them just fine and I was able to push with them, no problem. Dr asked if we had names picked out. DH tells him we picked Brenden for a boy. Then he says "well, looks like we have a Brenden!" They put baby on my stomach and then took him over to the side quickly as he wasn't breathing at all. It was a really scary 5 minutes for me and DH. Baby was totally blue and they'd only get a cry here and there. They basically resuscitated him. They kept him under a warmer for the afternoon and by the end of the day, he was fine and all pink again. It was an extremely tense moment, however. DH was a mess. I think I was more calm than he was. The nurses were trying to be all cool about it, but I cannot tell you how frightening it is to see your baby completely blue like that.
So, all in all, we now have Brenden Kyle with us. Oh, he was 8 lbs 6 oz and 19 1/2 inches long!!! Big boy! The doctor thought he'd be around 7 1/2! He's hairy as anything! He still has that hair on his back, arms and legs! I hope it comes off soon! He's a sweetie, but he likes to eat lots. I thought it'd be a bit easier breastfeeding this time. It's still painful to begin with. It also causes uterine contractions that can be a bit uncomfortable. I expected that this time since I had heard about it. Even though Brenden is much bigger than Casey, labor and delivery was much easier. I knew it'd be fast, but not that fast! We came home today at 1:30 and both babies took a nap! Casey is a bit weirded out by the baby. She wants to touch him and pet his head, but sometimes she gets a bit crazy. We keep telling her to be very gentle.
I called Krista, but, since it was the weekend, nobody was around!! I knew that someone on the BB would be suspicious of my disappearance!!!
That's my story for now! I'm going to relax and put my feet up! It's been a rough afternoon!

Susan, glad everything went well, not counting the moments right after delivery!
Doesn't Casey look huge now!!!??? I have 2 who are 14 mos apart, too and I just remember how big Drew looked after Collin was born. I thought, man....that kid is huge! Before that he always looked like a baby ;) . It is hard having 2 babies so close together...but only for a while. It gets easier after a few months. The hardest part was not being able to sleep while the newborn was sleeping because there was a toddler running around and getting into everything  . It sounds like you have a lot of family fairly close, thought, so hopefully someone can help out now and then to give you a break.
Congratulations! We were all in suspense, and I figured you must've had the baby to be MIA for so long ;) :D

Thanks everybody! Just checking in here quickly. Casey still needs a bath and will be going to bed soon. Just in time for her little brother to wake up, no doubt! He's taking a nap with dad right now. Surprisingly, I haven't slept all day and I feel pretty good. Even the 6 hours of sleep I got throughout last night was more sleep than I'd had in a while.
Uh, I think I'm done with the pregnancy thread, except as a spectator! We probably will not have any more children. We're very happy with our girl and our boy and we can't think beyond that now. Kristi- our problem with Casey is kind of funny. She wants to kiss Brenden all the time, which is fine, but she also tries to take his head in her hands and almost pull it off, like it's a ball or something. It's kind of funny and we do stop her before she gets her hands around his head. Can't figure that one out! She's been so great with him, though. I can't really complain. The only time it's rough is when she's tired and I'm in the middle of changing or feeding. Other than that, she pets his hair and his arms very gently. She did accidentally put toys on his head and face and she tries to snuggle with him. Very very cute!
