Just came back from a weeks visit with some friends. I've been wracking my brains trying to think of a nice thank you gift. I don't really want to do the food basket or flowers thing.

While we were there we went to a tea house and they taught me how to play Carrom - it's roughly similar to pool except you flick discs ("coins") with your fingers instead of hitting balls with a cue. The coins at the teahouse were in bad shape and there weren't enough of each color needed.

So here's my idea:
I thought I might buy them a nice set of coins and a striker (cue ball). They don't own a board (and a board is a bit too extravagent of a present) but I thought it would be nice for them to have good coins to take with them. What do you think?

Here's the site in case you're interested: http://www.carrom-boards-australia.com.au/Our%20Boards.htm

TIA :)

$100 for a nice restaurant, but then I love to eat.

I think that's a great gift! Very creative yet practical. I'm the type that loves almost anything though.

I also think that it's a great idea! It's something a little different, and that they'll have the chance to use often...

I think it's a great idea because they will always think of you and your visit whenever they use them. Gifts that create experiences and are tied to memories are always good.
