Maybe it's just me, but when did CL start to split up articles from the recipes...for instance putting the recipes in the back of the issue?
For example, the July issue features an article "Salmon on the Sound" on page 108... and the story and menu continue along with pictures, etc. to page 112, then in tiny print it says please see page 185 for more recipes.... I looked back at a couple of back issues and I didn't see that occurring. The June issue also had the same thing- referring you to the back of the mag for more recipes.
Maybe I'm too whiny here, but I find it breaks up the flow and I personally don't like that.... or should I shut up and quit complaining? :D
You can tell me I'm being sillly it won't hurt my feelings......but this is bugging me! Does this bug anyone else?

I am pretty sure they have always done this. I flip through the whole magazine, even the ads in back and then I come across more recipes and realize that an article wasn't finished when I moved on to the next page. :(

I think they've always done this. I know in Jan/Feb 2002, the Chinese
New Year article is continued at the back, because I always flip to the
back of the magazine to find that steamed fish with ginger-wine sauce
recipe.
You're not the only one that finds it annoying. It bugs me too. I'd
prefer if they kept the article and recipes all together. But then
again, I'd also prefer if they printed a picture of every recipe.

Since this is my first post, I hope it appears correctly.
A few months ago there was a letter to the editor about this start and continue at the end of the magazine format that has been introduced. Only a year ago this was not the case, new articles were started as late in the issue as pages 204 and 211.
I am sorry that I do not remember CL's response, but came away with the thought that the format was going to revert. My opinion? I hope so as I do not like the start here and finish there format.

Let me be the first to welcome you Linda. I acutally love your "TitlePending" name! Hope you come to enjoy this board as much as I do, but beware, it can most definitely become addiciting.
I have to agree that I don't like the recipes in different parts of the magazine. I usually do not go to look up the recipe, and many times the recipes in the back get overlooked. I have come to use the recipe index more often when looking for something in particular.

The splitting up article is somewhat new. I don't mind it in other magazines so much, but I notice that I'm less inclined to make the recipes in the "back" or "continued" sections of the magazine. There typically aren't pictures. It's just a string of random recipes wedged in between ads and other follow-on articles. I know it's just a mental thing, but that's the way it goes for me. I do like having all of the specific topic recipes together in one section. Magazines do tons of focus groups on things like this, so I'm guessing I'm in the minority

I feel exactly the way you do, SusanMac. It's not that I HATE it, but I too am less inclined to make the recipes at the back, with no pictures, and that don't seem to be a part of anything.
So if you're in the minority, then I am too - but I would bet more people feel like we do than they think!
