These burgers are really tasty and they are very similiar to a meatball sub. Definitely a repeater. The Chickpea-artichoke salad that is suggested in the Menu Box is only okay in my opinion. Nothing wrong with it but nothing great either.

Hi CDA,
I'm originally from Spokane....

Anyway, I thank you for the review- I had my eye on those burgers...
They look good!
:D

Thanks for the review. I almost made these burgers the other night but at last minute I realized I did not have all the stuff to make them. I will have to try them when I get back from vacation :-)

I made these for dinner tonight (without the green pepper in the sauce). While they were tasty (we definitely should have toasted the buns!), I'm not sure I'd repeat... not because we didn't enjoy the flavor, but because there are just so many other recipes to try. Probably a 6.5/10.

I also made the Chickpea-Artichoke salad as an accompanyment. It went well with the sandwich, but, like Cathy, it wasn't overwhelming. Just a good, easy salad. I did add black pepper and some Penzey's Sunny Spain - it needed a lemon/pepper zest. This did kick it up a bit - nicely.

I made these tonight, very quick, very easy. The family liked them alot.

A couple of things- I caramelized the peppers and onions for 20 minutes or so- personal pref. I used Red and Yellow peppers, no green, again, personal pref.

I served them with the Tuscan Tomato and Bean Salad from CL 1994- it was a nice combo. My dh raved about the Bean salad, even more than the burgers!

All in all, I think family gave these an 8/10. I personally gave them a 6-7/10. The best thing about these is the ease and quickness of the prep, and then the flavor. I'll make them again when time is a main factor.

We finally made these last night and loved them. I thought they were very good, and DH thought they were perfect. That's exactly the kind of food he likes. :D They were very quick and easy to do. Next time I think I would leave out the green pepper and use all red, but that's just my personal preference.

These were pretty good the night I made them but leftovers were not a good idea (too dry). Won't repeat, tho' - I save repeat performances for recipes I consider superb and this was not one of them.

I second the request! Just got back from another trip and am rapidly running through all of the old posts I missed, I'd love to try this recipe, I am sure I have all of the 1994 issues, but which one? If you have the time to post this recipe, I would truly appreciate it!

My MIL made these last week for us and they were delicious! I am planning on making them when my family from KC comes to visit later this week. I would definitely say this is a repeater!

Here's the Tuscan Tomato and Bean Salad recipe that was requested...

are the NA a bit high for calories? Fat looks ok but the calories seem to be a bit higher than what I thought it should be. Is it me?
Thanks for the recipe, I hope to try it this week for lunch!

off a bit but, I am really not sure. I got the recipe out of my Mastercook and don't have CL copies going back to 94 to verify what the original analysis was... based on what's in the salad the calories can't be that high.

I tried this salad and really liked it. It has a great taste for the simple ingredients. Fresh basil really gives it a kick.

Maybe this is the problem...

I have had this problem with Mastercook in the past when recipes involve beans. I just KNEW that a certain recipe I was making HAD to be off - it was coming out to something like 800 cals per serving!! I think the problem is that MC assumes that the beans are uncooked. When I changed the ingredients around for the recipe I was making and made sure it read "cooked beans" the nutritional info seemed to be on target.

I just ran these ingredients through MC and it is the beans. If you plug it in as just "cannellini beans" the calories come out to 403. If you plug it in as "cooked cannellini beans", the calories come out to 196 per serving.
