This is a question for the person who posted the recipe for the orange cumin beef stew- - or for anyone else who has made it.

I plan to make this stew for dinner this week but wanted to double check on one ingredient. The recipe calls for 4 1/2
tespoons ground cumin.

Is this the correct amount?

Thanks to anyone who can reassure me before I actually try it.

o'brien,
I actually haven't made this, but I have seen the recipe, and 4 1/2 t. isn't an exhorbitant amount. Curry powder isn't like cloves; you can use more and it just intensifies the flavor. If you don't use enough, the taste isn't very perceptible.
Sorry I'm not much help; I felt compelled to reply because noone else had! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

This is LIsaP's recipe and I made it a week ago. I mentioned in my review that I thought it needed a lot more liquid so during the simmering stage I actually doubled all the ingredients except for the beef. It is not a lot of cumin in proportion to the amount of orange juice & grated rind. I also served it over wide egg noodles. I will definitely be making this many times this winter.
