DH is off work for the next 2 days, so I am making a big crab boil for him. QUestion:
SHould I take the shells off the shrimp and crab before putting in a pot of spices? If I leave the shells on, wont the flavor not reach? However, if I take the crab out, wont it shred?
HELP:)

Kim,
Leave the shells on. The crab boil spices will get down in between the shells and the meat, creating these little "pockets" of flavor that are soooo good.
Have fun!!

Definitely leave the shells on. Half the fun of this is peeling while you eat and getting your hands full of that great seasoning!!!:D

Kim,
You didn't mention if you were using "packaged" Crab boil spices or not, but if you are, don't open the mesh bag! Boil your seafood with the bag still intact.
I know from experience, my eyes burned for hours. Sorry if this is real obvious, rookie mistake, 14 years ago...
