Question: Khalua makers

What type of bottles are you all using? Where did you get them? I just received my vanilla beans and I am anxious to get started. Which of the two recipes did you all use? The first or second? Have you tasted it yet?
Any advice would be great. Thank you.

When I made kalhua (a year plus ago) I just put it in one of those green big jugs of wine (washed it well and put some vodka swirled around to clean it well too). After it was "done" I transfered to diff size bottles (I had) to give away etc

I only have 2 beans since I was not sure what I'd do with them. I may simply make some vanilla with them, but I do love khalua. I probably have enough vodka at home to get me started. Vodka is one of my favorites to drink and we make plenty of white russians in the winter, but none for me this year!

I made the second recipe and as I recall, it only required two vanilla beans and 750ml vodka. I am using bottles I had but you can find nice bottles at a place like pier one imports. I have 4 weeks to go and I can't wait to see how it goes, my vanilla still looks rather weak and has two weeks to go.

I see you decided to try the HGTV recipe for Kalhua. Let me know how it is. I posted both versions (2 recipes). Good luck! Like I said before when sharing it with friends you can transfer to several bottles, I recall I painted with stencil one bottle and used raffia for others and you can make a label for it in your computer! Mrs Reber is expecting...that's why she cannot have white russians!
