Made this tonight for dinner. It was good comfort food, and I'd make it again, but it's kind of in the same category as meatloaf, so nothing fancy.

Anyway, I made some adjustments:
-I used ground turkey instead of ground beef because that's what I had
-I used skim milk, because why not?
- I used chopped fresh tomato, because I didn't have canned crushed
-I threw some ground chipotle powder in the filling because I didn't think the topping was spicy enough; next time I'll increase the chopped chipotle in the topping
-I doused the filling with steak sauce, because it was running the risk of being a little bland otherwise (keep in mind if was turkey, which is bland to begin with)

So my adjustments weren't major, but I thought it needed a little something extra than what was written.

We thought this was very good. I made some of the same changes as beckms, I also used skim milk, added 1/2 tsp chipotle chili powder, 1/2 tsp cumin and 1 tsp reg. chili powder to the filling and 1/4 tsp cinnamon to the potatoes.

My only complaint is that the recipe called for 1 cup milk in the potatoes. That was way too much. That has happened to me in other CL mashed potato recipes so I started out with a lot less. I used about 1/2 cup.

I just wanted to bump this one up...it's fall now and I wanted people to give it a chance in case they missed it in the dead of summer. (it really is a "fall" type meal :D )

This was *really* good after some tweaking...a simple recipe that just needs a little personal love and attention.

I halved the recipe but kept the carrots, peas, onion and garlic the same. I used 2 large yams and only needed 1/4 milk (I used ff half and half that I had left over from the white chili). I followed Terry's suggestion and added cumin, chili powder to the filling and cinnamon to the potato. I also added 1/2 bouillion cube to the turkey when it was browning (oh yes I used turkey instead of sirloin) and fresh chopped cilantro (hello my name is JeAnne and I'm a cilantro addict  :D )

I really thought it was pretty delicious as did DH who gobbled it up and said in between mouthfuls "ummm this is really good but my people dont use orange potatoes." To which I promptly answered "yeah well your people don't believe in any spice other than salt and pepper either" :D

Another plus? This worked out to five points per serving and the servings are nice and generous.
