Leigh, I didn't add it, but it did mention in my brochure that the IRA contribution amounts had recently been changed. So until recently, $500 was the limit. And I wholeheartedly agree about talking to a broker. I'm sure there are a lot of catches that the brochure doesn't explain.

Krista, I love you avatar! Now I want one just like it. Well, I would probably use Mason's picture instead of Jared's. I bet you will start a new trend on the bb.
Nothing much going on here. I have had problems with my right shoulder for years, and it has really flared up again the past few days. Normally, I just avoid doing any heavy lifting and it goes away in a few days. Now, it is impossible for me to avoid lifting Mason all day, so the pain is much worse, and is lasting longer. Poor me. :p I also usually really load up on the Tylenol, but am afraid to take too much, since I'm not sure how much of it gets into my milk, and I have been giving Mason Motrin the past few days because he is teething. Anyway, my point is that it is hard for me to even type right now, so I have been mainly lurking here.
Enough whining. You guys are making me feel bad that I haven't even looked into a 529. Guess we should do that soon.
I have to admit, I didn't even realize it was a holiday weekend until someone asked what people were doing. :o Since Clint and both are at home all day, we kind of lose touch with the real world. But my parents called last night and want to come spend the night on Sunday night (in a hotel, my dad doesn't like staying in people's houses) and hang out with us on Monday. It sounds like the rest of you have much more exciting plans.

I went to our bank's website (we bank with USAA). They have some information on funding your child's college education. They have a listing for the 529. I showed it to DH last night and we are going to pick our financial advisor's brain on it.
If we can roll the Education IRA's that we have started for the girls into the 529, we may do it. Especially if its a better financial deal. Right now, their IRA's are not doing so well - not that anything that's invested in the stock market is doing so well LOL!

Your dad is my hero! I would MUCH rather stay in a hotel than in someone's house.

Anna and Krista, how are you doing that?! I love the avatars! I want everybody to see Hanne's chubby little cheeks!
I'm loving the discussion on savings plans. That is high on our list of things to do. I'm guessing I have to wait for DD's SSN to arrive though, right?
Was Susan collecting pee today? Can't wait to hear that story!

I had my DH make it for me. I know he had to save the jpg as a gif, then post it to a site. I just plugged the site address into the area for custom avatars in the User CP section. I'm not that computer literate, so maybe Anna could give you more details.
SusanR, how did the pee collection go? Hope things are going smoothly there.
Anne, I hope your shoulder is feeling better. What a bummer! :( Maybe Clint and your parents can cart Mason around this weekend to give you a break.
Shelley, I hope you have a great weekend at your family reunion!
Anna, what have you been up to? We haven't heard any Emma stories in a while. Are you still trying to recover from all her parties and your houseguests?
We're not doing much this weekend, but I am looking forward to spending time with DH and Jared. Maybe we'll go to the beach or scope out a park. I still haven't unpacked form last week, either. :o Maybe I should get that done.
Take care,
~Krista

Erin,
To make the avatar, I just cropped a picture to 50 x 50 and saved it in a file on my hard drive. Next, I loaded it up onto a site called Pbase which is just another site that lets you load photos onto the internet http://www.pbase.com. After that, I went to the avatar thing in the User CP and selected "custom avatar". Next, I pasted the URL of the photo I'd loaded onto pbase into the box that says URL etc.
Krista,
I've just been lurking. Emma had a pretty bad reaction to her polio and chicken pox vaccines (we don't know which one) and she's been hard to manage for the past 2 days -- no appetite, cranky, tired, whiney and out of control. She is finally getting back to normal today.
Honestly, I'm kind of bored. I can't do any cleaning because Emma cries when I stop playing with her and shopping has gotten harder because she tries to crawl out of the basket. We've spent most of our time up in our loft playing with toys. Today we're having one of Emma's little friends over to play.
It's been a rough two days. I feel like I can't keep up with anything :(.

Thanks Krista and everyone. Things are better today. Much better. Emma's finally back to her old self and the world seems managable again. Right now, she's at the park with Todd. It was just a rough week.
By the way, if there's any question about who stole who's idea for an avatar, I blatantly copied Krista's because it was SO CUTE. Now we have to spread these avatars around the board and start a trend. I'm surprised no one else (?) has done it yet.
Anne, I'm sorry about your shoulder. You are being very conscientious about not taking the Tylenol while giving Mason Motrin. What would happen if you just took Motrin?
Erin, did you figure out the avatar thing yet?
