Ralph: Thumbs up for your dessert suggestion!

I made the cranberry-chocolate trifle Ralph posted on the "What dessert are you Making" thread. It was a hit at our dinner and looked great, too. Ralph, what were your thoughts? Would you make it again? I'm not big into chocolate, so I really liked the cranberry compote, but it also went well with the rich chocolate cake.

Definitely a hit with us, too! As someone had mentioned on that same thread, the cake itself was rather dry, which I think is why the compote & cream were necessary. Confession: We spiked the trifle w/brandy (much like Emeril did on the show!)! We certainly plan to make it again, but we've still got a ton of it left! It was REALLY dense; can't eat too much at once!!
