Pizza recipe to share

The pizza I recreated last night was so good that I wanted to share it. All it needs is pizza dough, pesto, shredded fontina and fresh tomato slices. I spread the pesto on the dough, sprinkled the cheese, placed the tomatoes on top and then baked it.

The inspiration came from Citizen Cake, a restaurant in San Francisco, where I took DD for a special lunch the day before school started.

I make a similar pesto pizza but with feta cheese...yummm! BTW, try it with caramelized onions or roasted red peppers in the wintertime when tomatoes are watery and not worth eating.

Ahhhhhhh, Citizen Cake. Although I've heard of Elizabeth Faulkner for years (and make her Mexican wedding cake cookies every Christmas) it wasn't until my last trip to SF (for the Bay to Breakers run) that I took a friend and went over there. Just looking at some of those pastries added inches to places where I'd rather not.
