View Full Version : Anyone belong to book crossings?
I could spend hours looking at the book crossings site. Does any one here belong? Do you release books? It sounds so cool and like alot of fun but rather complicated! (simpleton that I am!). I have seen some cookbooks listed that I would love t get but I am not sure how to contact the people etc. Any advice or help? It is such a wonderful idea-I'd like to be a part of it! Thanks, Maureen

I'm pretty sure dcornelius has been releasing books, and magdon posted the site on one of the last reading threads.
Most of what I read I get from the library so I generally only get to release them to the returned book bin. :D

I belong and yep, I release books! I love it! I have not found any books myself but my son found two of them in the Fairbanks airport on his way home to see me! It is a relativly new concept and hasn't caught on real well yet but I am not giving up cause I want it to catch on! I love the site! I haven't checked lately to see if there are any new releases in my area.... I need to do that. I am dying to find a book! one hint, if you do release a book be sure and put a note on the cover about it being a free book and request the finder look at the lable inside and log it in on the site. I ordinarily give my books away anyway and what better way to do it! Hope you try it and enjoy it! I actually heard about it here on the BB although I don't remember who posted about it the first time.

I am an avid Bookcrosser!!
As far as getting books you want: If a book has been released "into the wild" (Go Hunting tab) and it is in your area, go to the location listed and try to find it! If it is a store/restaurant/etc be sure to ask if it's in their lost and found.
If you want a book not released post it on the Book Wish List Forum (Community Tab).
I have released many books and found 2 or 3. I have done several swaps with other bookcrosser and they have turned out very well! I think bookcrossing is loads of fun and a great idea! If you have any more questions or just want to gab about it I'm always willing!!

What a cool idea!
I registered last night, and released an old VC Andrews book today (I still find it hard to part w/ the books I really really like, though they just take up shelf space).

Yup, I'm in, although its off to a slow start. I just released my first book, although I've known about this site since June. And I haven't found any books. I forgot to check the site while I was on vacation & I was this close to one and didn't even know it! sigh. I'll keep trying though because it is such a fun idea.

I found my first book this weekend!!!! I've been a member since June. I was soooooo excited to find a book when I wasn't even looking! I've often checked the "go hunting" area but haven't found one that way yet. Apparently I found the book the same day it was released which I thought was pretty cool. I am trying to decide where to release the book after I'm done with it this week. Decisions, decisions...
3 cheers for bookcrossing.com!!! :D

Oh I'd love to find one! My area is so big and there are so many people it would be like finding a neelde in a hay stack. I will keep hoping and releasing though :D
