I'm planning on trying it this week so I'd also be interested in reviews. Good luck Jen! Let us know how it turned out.
i made the bisque for dinner tonight and overall i would have to say it was not very tasty. i tasted it as it cooked and tried to add a little extra spice, but it didn't help. i even put a little in a bowl and tried adding cinnamon, (you never know, right) but that didn't help either. it was edible, but not something i would make again.

Well, this is a vote FOR the soup. I made it last night and think its excellent. I didn't have pear nectar so I just added some sugar (about 1/4 cp) and I also had some extra diced granny smith apples (from the apple torte recipe) so I threw those in. I put ground cinnamon on as garnish and thought it enhanced the flavor. My husband and mother in law really liked it. I would definitely make again.
i like the idea of adding the apples - that might help. you've peaked my interest so maybe i will try it again. thanks

i made this bisque yesterday, i loved it. The curry flavor was just enough spice. i used a pear nectar from Mexico that is sold here in south Texas and my pears where very very ripe. i brought in some to work for my coworkers to sample and they all liked the "different" taste of it

If your area sells Goya products they have pear nectar. If not check your frozen juice section

Although I made it without, I figure that Kern's juice products would also work fine. You might even experiment with a slightly different type of nectar - oh, I don't know like guava - but I haven't been that adventurous yet. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/cool.gif

I loved this soup!!!! I couldn't wait for lunch to eat my leftovers. I even brought some in for a co-worker to sample. She loved it too. I found Goya pear nectar at an ethnic produce store. The curry gave it an excellent flavor and the consistancy was rich and creamy!

I loved this soup. I would recommend trying it again. Sometimes the squash you add is sweet than then last time. I found this to be the case, after I made this soup a second time.

I made this bisque last night and everybody loved it! I added a little ginger in addition to the curry; also substituted evap. skim milk for the half and half. Used Kern's nectar.

I'm so glad to hear so many positive comments on this soup. My CL Supper Group is making this for our Halloween Dinner at the end of the month. It sounds delicious!!!

My CL group made this and it was great! I added a touch of cayenne to the leftovers and the heat really complemented the sweetness. I can't wait to make it again!

I made the soup two days ago. Added the cayenne pepper - yum! Also we toasted French bread to put in and melted Gouda cheese in each bowl. I ate one bowl without the bread and did not enjoy it as much. my husband likes the cheese melted on the bread in the broiler, but I like them separate.

I made this soup today and my husband and I loved it. I used the fat-free evaporated milk as Betsy suggested and it was delicious. I'm looking forward to leftovers. I discovered I have a similar recipe with squash, apple, cider, and chicken broth and both are great.

Gosh, there have been so many great reviews for this soup; I can't wait to try it!
I recently made a Lime-Coconut Sweet Potato soup, and I'm making a porcini-pumpkin soup this week. I love this season! Winter squash, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, mmmmm...they make so many yummy things!
i made this soup this weekend with some slight modifications...i increased the amount of broth (i used chicken instead of vegetable), skipped the water and added some red pepper flakes and cayenne..i also used light cream in place of half-n-half....
it was very very good....

Just wanted to add my rave review to the bunch...I loved this soup! I made it last night, with some changes (one intentional, one not-so intentional) I used acorn squash instead of butternut, but I'm not sure how big of a difference that would make...I actually like acorn better anyway...
I also accidentally added the half-and-half before the simmering, not after, so I'll have to try it again the right way.
I still thought it was delicious!
