In the sense that I don't have a friend nearby who loves to cook and talk about food! I wish one of you here would move into my city with all your CLs and cookbooks and we could bake and cook and talk.....:(
What would I do without this BB .....:(

We're lucky to be members of this great BB!!
Enjoying each other's recipes, triumphs, cooking disasters...cookbook collection titles ...:D ;)

Kima {{{{hugs}}}}} I wish we lived closer too. I don't have anyone to share my love of cooking either. The family loves to EAT my food, but it would be nice to have someone to share with. :(

But your winter's are like our summers-only hotter! Did you know I lived in Houston when I was a baby? All I know is that the heat almost killed my mum. I think the same would happen to this Canadian. But I could stand a week of it!:) For you anything Kim!!
Thanks-I know you guys understand and are out there somewhere....:D

kima, be thankful you've got the BB! It's been so much fun checking the boards and chatting with people from everywhere. Last year I took a cooking class and it was great to have hands-on instruction and chat with foodies there. Maybe you should check out your local community college for courses...

I am so very gratefull to have found this place! Even when I lived in a big city there was nothing to even compare with the friends that I have come to cherish here!

My fiancee and I have a lot of fun taking cooking classes - took a Thai one last year, that was awfully entertaining. We also took Comfort Foods, West Coast and a couple of other things, but its great, you go there and you cook dinner out of these recipes and there's even leftovers.

One class we went too, he had a half a sockeye salmon left over and I scored - won the paper draw and got to take it home! :)))

So yeah, I definitely second foodfiend's suggestion.

Hi Maureen,

Hello from a fellow Canadian!
If it makes you feel any better, I just moved from
Halifax to Edmonton 4 days ago and I don't know ANYONE!!!

Maybe we could try and have a Western Canada BB get together!

Cheers
Sue

Thanks for all your encouraging words. I think I will post a notice on the Supper Boards-thanks for the kick in the pants Tiger!:o
And I do take cooking courses from time to time and love them. I am taking a couple of Indian Vegatarian ones in October.
When my friends come over or someone I am just getting to know-they look at my cookbooks and say "wow you have alot of books".That's it-there is no interest or passion in food/cooking etc. That's fine-i mean everyone is different I just fantasize about one of them saying "Oh wow-I have that book-have you tried this recipes! I just made ?? and here's the recipes" etc. etc.
And believe I am so thankful for this BB. Without it all I'd have is Rachael Ray-and she doesn't answer me when I talk to her!:(

Oh {{{{Maureen}}}}}! I wish I lived closer too! I know what you mean. None of my friends here are as "into" food as I am! I'd love to sit down over a cup of tea and pore over recipes and cookbooks! And that's one of the reasons I like the BB so much! Everyone seems like me! :D

Oh, pick me, pick me (hand waving wildly in the air). I'd move to Victoria in a heartbeat if I thought DH could find a job and it didn't involve moving more than 3,000 miles from all our family. Especially if it gave me the chance to have a cup of coffee with you Maureen and partake of some yummy Indian food. :D :D

Seriously, before discovering this board, I sometimes felt like this total weirdo because of how much I love to cook and try out new recipes. A few of my friends are really into food, but many others just seem happy with whatever "box" is nearby. I'm sure they think I'm nutty for reading all these different cooking magazines and for having more than just one cookbook. Thank goodness for all of you - I finally found a place I belong! :p
