I'm looking for a really yummy brand of Chai tea powder that I can brew at home. I love them at the local coffeeshop, but don't want to buy the super-high calorie liquid stuff I've seen at the grocery.

BethH,

You hit my weakness! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif Right now I am enjoying Trader Joe's powdered brand of Spiced Chai Latte Tea (add water). On my last trip to TJ I noticed that they had it in decaf also, so I picked up a couple. It is pricey ($4.95) for a 10 ounce canister and very low in fat and calories. I have at least one nice mugful a night when I settle in bed with either CL, a novel or cookbooks to read. I also like Oregon chai which I also purchase at TJ. This one is in a carton and liquid form and you add equal milk to. Two others that I also like are in tea bag/loose tea form. I love Stashtea's brand which also comes in decaf (tea bag) and Tazi chai (loose tea leaves). When I made the Chai Tea cookies I used the Stashtea brand.....yum

Good Luck on your hunt!

This might not be exactly what you want to hear, but...

I second Mamasue's recommendation of Oregon Chai. To me, it's the only one that just "tastes right". I'd encourage you to give it a shot. I've tried it with milk and soy milk, and either works fine. Besides, you can use it as an excuse to get some calcium! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

My husband likes a powdered Chai tea by Pacific. We buy it at the Coffee Beanery.
