I can't say that I have a favorite for the holidays. I did just purchase two new cookbooks that is a Christmas present to myself http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif. They both look wonderful and I probably won't be getting to baking anything from them for this Christmas because my list is long enough....but you never know! The two cookbooks are: Cookies Unlimitedby Nick Malgieri and Sweet Miniatures by Flo Braker.

That's my problem--It's not just holiday cookbooks, it's any cookbook. I buy all sorts of them. It's like a compulsion! I receive offers in the mail, see cookbooks or those little magazines in the bookstores and just buy them. I love to sit (whenever I can-I have children) and read them and get new ideas. Anyone else like this? P.S. I have to admit, though, I have cut back--just
too expensive.

electrons - you're in good company. I worked at a bookstore for almost five years, and it seems that during that time I stocked up on cookbooks (among other things). The hard part was trying to curb my addiction once I changed jobs... not an easy thing http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
I read cookbooks like novels - some of what I own are not the most "practical" books in the world, but they're always interesting.

I love the Joy of Cooking.Cookies book. I really like the reduced fat lemon dainties. oh so sweet. And with that thread about microplane zesters, I can whip them up in a flash!

My favorite is Rose's Christmas Cookes, by Rose Levy Beranbaum. My friends have told me that the Buttered Rum sandwich cookies I've made from this book are melt-in your mouth, to die for. They are anything but light.

I saw the Joy of Cooking: Christmas Cookies in the store the other day and almost bought it. Have you tried anything yet? My husband volunteered me to make large volumes of cookies for his lab so I'm looking for a really good not-too-complicated cookie cookbook...
Also, I have a friend who's a gourmet chef and she SWEARS by Nick Malgieri. I think he must be a guest chef at a cooking school near where she lives because she always signs up for his classes.

I just bought CL Low-Fat Ways to Cook for the Holidays (?) the other day, on sale. I started looking at it only this morning, and am hoping to get some ideas for upcoming holiday entertaining. Running out of time... Anyway, I can t yet say if this is one of my favorite holiday cookbooks, but so far it looks good.
