It's most often a dessert, but sometimes a side as there are some savory versions out there, I think. But mostly it's a dessert.

It's stale bread, usually cut up, and baked with an egg custard. Kind of like a mushy french toast?? Very delicious. Especially those with a wonderful sauce to go over the top. Yum. Can't wait to try some of those recipes myself.

be forewarned that there are people who absolutely love bread pudding and people who loathe it. not many in between. i happen to love it, but have never actually made it myself. there's only one way for you to find out...
