The recipe for the chicken wings far surpassed my wildest dreams of what a hit it would be. This is a reinactment of our dinner:

MMMMM these are great, MMMMM these taste fantastic, slurp slurp I hope you wrote down the recipe, MMMMMM this must be cooking light recipe, licking fingers these are waaaaaaay better then the ones at Costco, MMMMMM when are you making these again.

The sauce would be great on chicken pieces as well, I tweeked it a little I used 1 cup of honey so that it would be the dominating flavor, I ommited the mustard (I have mustard issues) and didnt put in the water. I also used cider vinegar, it does make alot so next time I will take out half and dip in the wings and if I need more to baste with I will add to it, that way I can save the rest and not have to throw it out.

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
3 pounds wings - split in half -- tips removed
1/2 cup honey
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup water
1/3 cup ketchup
1/3 cup barbecue sauce
2 tablespoons margarine or oil
4 tablespoons vinegar -- * I use apple cider
vinegar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
4 medium garlic cloves - finely minced
1 tablespoon brown sugar
*omit water if you want a really thick
sauce

Lightly oil a roasting pan. Preheat oven to 375 F.

Combine honey, dry mustard, paprika, chili powder, salt, pepper, water, ketchup, barbecue sauce, margarine, vinegar, Worcestershire and garlic in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil and remove from heat. Dip wings in sauce then lay flat side down in roasting pan. Cover with remaining sauce.

Bake 45 minutes, basting often. Turn wings over and bake until tops are well-browned and wings are thoroughly cooked (another l5-20 minutes). Broil for the last couple of minutes on lowest rack of oven to crisp top of wings.

Description:
"These are fantastic! Tangy and sweet, with just the right touch of

Terri-Lynn,

Thanks for sharing this recipe. It sounds so good. DH is always asking for "BBQ" chicken and I am going to have to give this a try next time we have chicken for dinner, which might just be tonight.

These sound wonderful! Did you use the little tiny wings (and legs?) as an appetizer, or larger ones for an entree? I'm guessing you used large ones; an hour cooking time seems like a lot for those little wings like you get in restaurants (my husband adores them), but who knows? Just wondering!

I wonder if these would get additional flavor if you marinated them for a day? They sound great!

Robin I dont know how they would be marinated but I could only guess that they would just keep getting better.

I used the small chicken wings because that is all that I had, usually I have the large ones and just made twice as many. Which may I add there is not one left. This would be good on any kind of chicken though definitely try it, it is easy and of so good!!!

Hope you all enjoy it.

You are so welcome, they love them here as a change of pace from the hot wings. I like your changes, maybe I should make a note of them and try that next time. ;)

I made the honey garlic bbq sauce on Friday and used it with chicken pieces. It was very good. Today, I pulled out the leftovers for lunch and they were delicious. This sauce is a keeper. DH, who loves bbq sauce poured over his chicken, really enjoyed my homemade version.

MWS glad you enjoyed it, we really liked this version of making our own sauce and I am sure we will be making it many more times.

Thanks again Tizzylish for posting the recipe.

I made these using boneless chicken breasts, and they were fabulous. My family gobbled it down. Thanks for the great recipe!

Oh yummy....these do look good!
I am not wild about wings and would probably use another chicken piece like drumsticks or something. BarbaraL, did you leave the chicken breasts in for the whole hour?

I tried this recipe last night and used drumsticks. The sauce was great, but it was just sitting in a pool of juice/oil in the pan. Does it only work with wings? I don't care for wings much. My other thought was maybe actually BBQ-ing them for a while, allowing a lot of the grease to drip off and then putting them in the oven; I do this with my Lobel's BBQ chicken recipe. Or even baking them on a broiling rack-type of pan where the drippings don't touch the meat...but then it might be a pain to baste, unless you kept some of the sauce out. Any BBQ experts have any suggestions?

How do you think these wings would if they were made the day before and then put into to the crockpot the next day? I know they wouldn't be crispy, but do you think they would taste good or taste re-heated? Vicky

Popping this back to the top again.....

This wings recipe really caught my attention! I'm going to a party tonight and we're ALL doing some form of WW or at least being careful diet-wise. But it is a party and so we aren't planning on being 100% good :D

So my question is, has anyone ever made this recipe using skinless chicken thighs and legs? If I don't add water to the sauce, will it be thick enough to stick or would I just end up with chicken pieces swimming in sauce?

If it doesn't work with the skinless pieces then we'll just have to suffer with regular wings :p
