Hi all,
I just received in the mail yesterday an offer for a free issue of the new magazine, America's Test Kitchen. It's published by the Cook's Illustrated crew. If I decide to continue with the sub, it's $19 or somewhere near there. I'm curious to see how different it is from CI.
Anyone else get this offer?

Are you sure it was for a magazine, and not the book containing the recipes from this year's shows? I think that they are producing the books for each season of shows because I have seen the promos on the website.
I've been watching the shows on TV and most of the recipes have already been published in CI itself over the past few years.
Here's a link to the America's Test Kitchen cookbooks. (http://www.cooksillustrated.com/store/store_show_products_multiple.asp?iCategoryID=12) And here's the quote at the end of the description of the latest cookbook coming out.

I got the offer for the magazine also. And for the new book. I sent the card back because I would like to see what its like. Cooks Illustrated is the one magazine I keep...but I might not want to spend $40 a year for both.

I didn't receive an offer for the book, but my offer was definitely for a magazine. It's for their charter issue and the mag will test recipes and rate cookware, food taste tests, and price comparisons. They say if you like Cook's, give this one a try. I wonder how different it will be, but if they're offering to their subscribers, I imagine it would have to be different, right?

My guess is that it will be extremely repetitious of CI. Kimball is behind both publications.

I went to the America's Test Kitchen website and couldn't find any mention of the magazine. I wonder how I could get a trial issue of it if I haven't been sent a special offer.

Hi Val,
I did a bunch of searches on line and on their website. I can't find anything about it either. :( I'm going to try to go to B & N this week, and I'll see if they have it. The offer said they'd send my charter issue right away, but I have no idea how quickly that means. Maybe that was the initial plug, now they're going to start advertising it? Or maybe they'll have something on their website like Eating Well did. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Yeah, it is strange that it can't be found online. I'll bet it is because it is a relatively long way off (like Eating Well was when it was first announced). I'll bet you won't be able to find it in the stores for quite sometime (if at all). But it won't hurt to check.
If you haven't sent in your card yet, you could give me the address and I could send in a request. But if you already sent it in, no problem. I will live. I don't even have a subscription to CI yet. I put it on my Christmas list, though.

Sorry, Val, I sent it in the day after I got it! But I'll keep my eyes and ears open and let you know what's up when I do! :)
