Well, none of these are from December, so I didn't want to put them in the Misc. dec. reviews, thread. Here goes http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Raspberry Balsamic Chicken: I know, everyone else has already tried this, but I just wanted to emphasize its goodness...my boyfriend and I both liked it. I don't cook chicken very much, but I thought this dish was worth it. I loved the sauce...I really like sweet sauces, and this was wonderful.

Maple Apple Crisp: Yummy! We had this for dessert -- I had the leftovers tonight. I loved this; I'll definitely make it again. I made the Amaretto one about a month or so ago, and thought this one was better.

Whole Wheat Spaghetti with Arugula: This was yummy, too...nothing incredible, but how could anything with whole wheat spaghetti, tomatos, arugula and parmesan not be good? It made a nice and quick light lunch.

Wine Glazed Winter Vegetables with Lentils:
I really liked this dish a lot. I'd never had celeriac or parsnips before, so I was a little worried, but it was really delicious; the serving size was generous too; I definitely didn't eat a whole portion. The lentils were awesome; I used french green as suggested, and I think that added a lot.

I made the Wine Glazed Winter Vegetables with Lentils for dinner the day before Thanksgiving, and we loved it! I did think it was very time-intensive but not difficult and very filling. When you serve it the way she suggests in the mag, it looks very elegant as well. I used regular lentils and I thought they were great. In fact, I tried the lentils by themselves before I added them and they were very flavorful although a little dry.

emilycat-
I made the maple-apple crisp the other night. My DaD and I loved it. The only problem was that it serves 8, and we only managed to get 4 servings out of it! But I guess that what happens when it's good.
Can I ask where are you from. I've never seen or heard of whole wheat pasta!

Tiger,

I usually buy my whole wheat pasta from Trader Joe's or a health food type store, Henry's. Very rarely do I ever see it in the regular grocery store. I just checked your profile and looked on the Trader Joe's site for you. No Trader Joe's in PA, so maybe you could you try a gourmet foods or health food store.

Good luck!

Thanks Krista- I live in the suburbs outside Philadelphia. We were just named the fattest city in the country. We Don't have health food stores. We have hogies and cheese steaks!
Just today my market told me they no longer carry Healthy Choice cheeses because no one buys them!
It's not easy staying size 6!!!!

Tiger,

I live in Atlanta, so there's whole wheat pasta everywhere I turn...every Publix and Harris Teeter has a reasonable selection, and the farmers markets and natural food stores have incredible varieties. Even in my town of 25,000 where my parents live we have it. I did a double take when you said you'd never heard it! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/frown.gif Maybe it's hiding somewhere. I love the stuff, I refuse to eat plain pasta unless I'm in a restaurant where I can't exactly demand to have whole wheat.

As a last resort, you could try ordering it. I'd visit the Hodgson Mill site Kim suggested; I like their brand as well. Maybe also try Whole Foods. Good luck!

emilycat,

I am SOOOOOOOOO jealous that you have Harris Teeter & even more jealous that you are close to Harry's!!! We lived in Decatur, GA for about 5 months last year... I think our fondest memories of Atlanta are shopping at Harry's! After Atlanta, we moved to Long Island, NY & couldn't deal with the supermarkets there - oh how we longed for even a Publix!! Now we are in S. Florida & get to shop Publix all the time, but we really do miss Harry's! Too bad, though, because we're not moving again for a long time!! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

In any case, we were able to find the whole wheat spaghetti at Wild Oats...they may have a website for those who can't find it at a local market...

I'm new to the computer. How do you look up someone's profile?
Thanks

Hey, Tiger: If you ever get down to the DC area, Trader Joes are popping up everywhere. (And, you can look up profiles by clicking on the icon with the person's face and a question mark -- it's the first icon to the right of the posting data.)

MB -- We're getting a Harris Teeter in our neighborhood. I've never seen one. I thought it was just another grocery store. It's got good things?

Tiger -

You asked how to look at someone's profile? Do you see the face with a question mark next to each entry? Click on this and you'll see someone's profile - if they've entered information.

junietoo - we thought harris teeter was really cool when we first went there...it was just different from supermarkets we'd seen. it had 2 stories, a huge wine section, a separate kosher section, more of a variety of fresh veggies, cheeses, breads, etc. however, it was sort of inconvenient from our house, so we ended up not going that often.

I just have to rave about my favorite stir-fry dish, since there don't seem to be any past reviews of it. It's the Orange-ginger tofu from the May issue, and it's wonderful!
I don't typically use recipes for stir fries (well, maybe that's not true) but the combination of the sherry, ginger, brown sugar, and orange juice (although I used pear nectar this time) is wonderful! Of course, the fact that asparagus and shiitake mushrooms are two of my favorite vegetables helps too... http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif
