View Full Version : Freezing Meat - Is it still good???

My husband took a beef tenderloin out of the freezer this morning to thaw for Saturday's dinner, and he said one end of the package was "discolored" - he said it looked like maybe it "leaked". (I know this will send you vegetarians into a frenzy - my apologies!!!)

I double-wrapped the tenderloin in freezer wrap and taped it to death.

I'm wondering whether or not it's still edible - your thoughts?

I think that when you open the package and one end of the meat is discolored and probably dried-out (if it's freezer burn) that you would only have to remove that section of the meat. But it just may be that the "leak" didn't effect the meat at all.

The meat would still be good meaning you would not get sick, however the taste quality and texture may be affected.
