Matt
I've only ever used the broiler pan that came with the oven, didn't know you could buy a new one! On my gas oven it would have to fit the rack so I'd have to buy one from the manufacturer, so I'm assuming you have an electric oven?
Maybe someone else will see this and have an idea.

I'm not quite following Sneezles here with regard to why she feels your oven might be electric... maybe there's something about ovens I haven't learned?? My gas double-oven also came with a broiler pan, which I very rarely use. I also bought a nice, hefty cast-iron one from Nordicware (Grill and Sear) which I have yet to use. Why? Don't laugh. I have a crummy little flimsy one-steak model (actually it's large enough to hold a 1 1/2 pound flank steak just barely) I got at the supermarket which I love to death. It scrubs clean nicely with a Brillo and it cooks my food just fine.

Seriously, I wouldn't waste my time putting a lot of money into a broiler pan. You want something strong enough not to bend from weight (although my cheapie warps and goes back when it cools) and something with the proper ventilation for drips. Otherwise, I wouldn't agonize over the decision. (I am curious though, Matt-- what is your substandard pan doing? Or not doing?)

My gas oven has a broiler section in a drawer on the bottom and it has a rack with different heights that the pan must fit in or it would just sit on the bottom. My electric oven in the old house didn't have a rack you broiled in the regular part of the oven. I'd draw a picture if I could!!!

Duh! http://cgi.tripod.com/smilecwm/cgi-bin/s/sally/spineyes.gif Senility is setting in. I forgot all about that set up. The O'Keefe and Merritt we had when I was growing up was designed that way.

My double oven uses the upper unit for broiling (or baking as you prefer.) You merely set it to "broil" and adjust the top rack as necessary.
