Well, I took my sugar cookie dough out of the freezer yesterday to bake them. The dough was made with Plugra. I found that using Plugra butter had no difference in taste or texture and feel that Land of Lakes will still be my choice for unsalted butter in baking. Plugra is more expensive...I paid $3.99 for 8 oz. and is 1 gram higher in fat...not that 1 more gram makes a difference. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif Plugra is made in PA. Land O Lakes is about $2.99 a pound, made in MN and they both have the same ingredients.

Thanks for the review, Mamasue! I think I ll give Plugra a pass, then. Anyway, judging from how you described it on the earlier thread, it doesn t sound quite like what I had (for one thing, as Gail noted, Plugra is unsalted, and the Breton butter was a bit salty). That does it - I have no choice but to start planning a long return visit!! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif

I never got back to you with a review either. Neither my husband or I were overly impressed with the taste. Both of us liked the Land O' Lakes unsalted much better. Whether it's one of those "city" things, like not appreciating unhomogenized milk, I don't know. Just our opinions, mind you...
