Somehow I'm managed to avoid getting anything done tonight by searching for trifle recipes online for the past 3 hours.
:o
I HAD to share this web site site with you - it's hilarious!! Make sure to scroll down to the photos they posted.

What a fun group of people! I love their rating system... quality versus effort. We may need to adopt that system with my Supper Club!

We are meeting again tonight. It is a traditional scottish night tonight - 'Burns night'.

Minutes should follow in a week or so.

What a hoot! Can't wait for the review of the Burns' Night menu!

Just thought I'd share Burns' Address to the Hagis to get us in the mood for Burns' Night.

TO A HAGGIS
Fair fa' your honest, sonsie face,
Great Chieftan o' the Puddin'-race!
Aboon them a' ye tak your place,
Painch, tripe, or thairm:
Weel are ye wordy of a grace
As lang's my arm.

The groaning trencher there ye fill,
Your hurdies like a distant hill,
Your pin wad help to mend a mill
In time o' need,
While thro' your pores the dews distil
Like amber bead.

His knife see Rustic-labour dight,
An' cut you up wi' ready slight,
Trenching your gushing entrails bright,
Like onie ditch;
And then, O what a glorious sight,
Warm-reekin, rich!
Then, horn for horn they stretch an' strive,
Deil tak the hindmost, on they drive,
Till a' their weel-swall'd kytes belyve
Are bent like drums;
Then auld Guidman, maist like to rive,
Bethankit hums.

Is there that owre his French ragout,
Or olio that wad staw a sow,
Or fricassee wad mak her spew
Wi' perfect sconner
Looks down wi' sneering, scornfu' view
On sic a dinner?

Poor devil! see him owre his trash,
As feckless as a wither'd rash,
His spindle shank a guid whip-lash,
His nieve a nit;
Thro' bluidy flood or field to dash,
O how unfit!

But mark the Rustic, haggis-fed,
The trembling earth resounds his tread,
Clap in his walie nieve a blade,
He'll mak it whissle;
An' legs, an' arms, an' heads will sned,
Like taps o' thrissle.

Ye Pow'rs, wha mak mankind your care,
And dish them out their bill o' fare,
Auld Scotland wants nae skinking ware
That jaups in luggies;
But, if you wish her gratefu' pray'r,
Gie her a Haggis!

Take another look at our site.

Steve, my friend, NO ONE ON THE PLANET DOES THINGS LIKE THEY DO IN THE UK. Which is why we are so delighted with your web page. And don't understand your comedy shows.

Where are you (and the club) located? My darling daughter and her husband flew off today to Lakenheath for 2-4 years (he, of course, could be deployed to parts unfortunate as soon as they land).

you don't have to "type" anything. just go to the website. highlight the whole URL address. right click with your mouse and select "copy." then go to the email you want to send to your friend and right click and select paste. that way, you won't have to type anything and you will be sure to have the correct address.

This sent direct to my e-mail from Steve:

"The evening went very well from what I remember - a lot of alcohol was consumed and the food was as always superb.
There will be a delay to the minutes as one of the members lost their father suddenly due to an illness. The funeral is today. Once things return to normal, we will issue the minutes.
I have a script that runs whenever the site is viewed, that gives me information on readers who have visited. Basically I can tell how a reader found the site. It can tell me what was entered into a search engine (I think we mention this sometimes in the minutes) and also where they come from. We saw a number of visits that came from the cooking light site so took a look.
You lot seem as mad as us from some of your entries. I like some of the notes under peoples names such as 'Life is a cabernet'.
Expect the next minutes to be issues in a week or so."

Oh Boy, Steve! You bet I'm marking my calendar.
When are you going to invite some Yanks to a meeting?

valchemist
04-28-2003, 06:14 AM
thanks for the update on your website, Steve!

this was a favorite quote of mine from the minutes:

...A classic chicken dish. As you know chicken is still regarded as a bit special in India as it is more expensive than other meats. Why, we don't know but it could be that catching a chicken in a field is a little more difficult than catching a cow. So we have a supply and demand affect. However it could be that the cow is more difficult to catch, in which case we still don't know.

if any of you haven't checked out the minutes yet, you are in for a treat. here is a link to the most recent meeting's minutes.

This is so completely hilarious - especially the "low-fat" vs. "high fat" cookoff.
They have no pride!!! (in the best possible way :D )

1187 hits since last reviewed from 794 different people showing statistically if you are once sad you come back for more.

Also -

it seems that the Yanks have gone quiet.

Take a look you guys...it will brighten your day!

I wish we could do something with them - like swap recipes and cross-post reviews on each of our Web sites?!?!

"As for Pickle Nickle's Mom, I think that you are Miss in di point! 'actually look pretty edible,' cheeky little toe-rag."

Oooh, oooh, I got a mention! I'm blushing...

I second the motion for the request for both the Baked Custard and B&B Pudding recipes... copyrights be darned! They sound like just the ticket to warming our bellies in this cold Northeastern winter. As having lived for several years in Woking, perhaps I can be counted as "one of you," long enough to waive copyright infringement... c'mon, whaddya say?

SteveAGreen
09-26-2004, 01:54 PM
After a delay caused by the reluctance of the Barbados cooking and excise department to release a certain recipe, we have now released more minutes!!!! Tell Shirley Panek it was her fault as she wanted the recipe.
Hope you enjoy.
