did not see a review, so...
broccoli & sausage calzones
(CL 1/01 and the 2002 "what's for dinner" supplement)

my first attempt at making calzones.
i used chicken & apple sausage instead of chicken & sundried tomato sausage. i subsituted a shredded mozz/provolone mix for regular provolone. i also doubled the amount of this cheese.

there were 4 sausage links in my package. you will only need to use approx. 1 sausage link for this recipe, so plan another use for the leftover links.

very easy. done within the hour. i used a fork to press the edges of the dough together. only downfall, it was pretty bland. i would suggest adding extra seasoning of your choice if you want it flavorful.

cant wait to try more calzone recipes now! these are fun!

Thanks for the review, but now I'm mad that I don't have 1/01 yet! :(

uh, katie...

I think you are waiting on 1/03. You should have received your 1/01 a couple years ago. ;)

thanks for the review, beth. I have made calzones a couple times and I agree that they are a great meal. And you can be so creative with the fillings.

Der.....I'll hang my head and go look up the 1/01 recipe (ON 1/01 I might add----1/01/03 that is), while still waiting for 1/03 (On 1/01/03).;) Thanks for enlightening me Val.

Thanks for the review. DH just opened a huge package of sausages that he froze without dividing. We had to defrost them all, so I needed recipes to use them up. Thanks for the help.

I made these yesterday and pretty much agree with Beth's (Sunberst) review. Quick, easy, tasty but a little bland. DBF absolutely loved them, but he loves just about anything I make! :p If I made them again, I would add a little garlic or hot pepper flakes to liven them up. Still, thumbs up!
