Sorry I don't know the answer to this, but when I bought my bag of poppy seeds at the Penzey's store, the check out woman sternly asked me, "Now where will you be storing these?" Knowing I didn't know the correct answer to this, my reply was "I don't know, where AM I going to store these poppy seeds??!" She promptly told me they belong in the freezer, so that's where mine are. But I don't know how you tell if poppy seeds have gone rancid.....something I'd also like to know if someone has the answer.... http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
