Thanks for the number! I just went to the swifer website though and the homepage says it is for a $5.00 off coupon  I figure If I get one free that would be great, if not $5.00 off isn't too bad either. :)

Cool. It IS a coupon for a free one, as far as I can tell. But the automated system is kind of spooky. I said my phone number and the computer *TOLD* me my name and address. I know the information is out there, but that was weird!!

How funny. I dont have a land phone for my new house, so I gave my cel phone. "She" said..."hhhmmm, I cant seem to locate that address"

It was funny!

If you get far enough without the scary computer lady knowing your information, she asks you for your name. I said my very Slovak last name (ending in 'sky' and all that), and said my first name, Mary Kate.

She came up with 'Katie Cameron'. :) While it's cute, I'm not sure it's really me. :)

Thanks for posting this, Molli!

That's the spooky part. "She" didn't *ask* me for my name, she *told* me!!!!!! And my last name is VERY Polish--with a few extra consonants thrown in to stir things up. And she said it pretty much correctly. Definitely better than most of the telemarketers who call us!

Hmm, I called last night and I could swear the "computer lady" said she would send a coupon for a free Swiffer Wet-Jet. Today I called just to check and she said "$5 Coupon".

I called... we will all have to report back with what we get in the mail! :)

I actually already have one and love it, although my local (small) Wal-Mart does not carry the refills. I think my grocery store does though.

My very German last name became Holbrook. Not quite it, but after spelling, it also was pronounced more correctly than telemarketers or hostesses. Gina

Someone forwarded the number to me last week. Being the suspicious type person, I immediately looked it up on the internet. I found numerous places where that 800# said it would give a $5 coupon and never found a place that said it would be for a free coupon. When I called, she said a coupon for a FREE mop. I also laughed at the interaction of the auto-response system. "Hmmm...I don't seem to have that number". "Is this your correct name?" "No? Ok, I think I have it now". :-)

And it was probably a better conversation than the typical telemarketer too!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D

My mom sent it to me.

When I called, I know she said free - but that was yesterday. A friend called today and hers said $5 coupon. Oh well, I still like getting mail that isn't a bill :)

Thanks Molli! I've been wanting to try this, but haven't wanted to drop the bucks. Even if it's a $5 coupon, I might be tempted to invest. And if it's free, all the better!

And I agree with you - mail that's not a bill is so exciting:D

You're a cool chick, Molli!

I just bought one of these last night at the store! I wish I'd waited. Oh well, I could get on for my boyfriend or somebody I guess.

I just called and it was for a $5 off coupon. Now I don't feel so bad. Maybe it's a random thing and if I keep calling eventually she'll say coupon for free mop.

Lynn :-)

Guess what made it to snopes.com...one of the Urban Legend sites. The Swiffer offer is NOT for a free mop. It was a promotion that's good for $5 off the purchase of the starter set. Oh well. If anyone gets an actual freebie coupon, I'd love to hear about it.

Here's the link to the whole story... (PS..the promotion ended in early February).

I was just looking up thread about the Wet-Jet Mop because I was considering getting one and wanted to see what people had to say about it. Now I am curious to find out what type of coupon everyone received.

I got a $5.00 off one. I bought the mop and like it, I use it maybe once a week or maybe more. But I still have to get down on my hands and knees every couple of weeks and scub the old fashioned way....

I just called the number given: 1-877-512-4526
It is the office depot order status line.
You cannot do anything without putting in an order number.
This has nothing to do with swiffer or any coupon at all.
