View Full Version : Tonight's Episode of Fear Factor

DBF and I are currently watching Fear Factor (yes we are suckers for reality TV). For the first stunt tonight, the participants had to bob for these rings that were in a a big tub of cow's blood. 50,000 gallons of cows blood!! They had to go in, face first, and grab these rings with their teeth! UGH!
This thread isn't so much about Fear Facter, but rather, what are your fears or phobias ( I know lots of people have issues with Blood, Vomit, et cetera)?
Blood makes me very anxious. My own I can somewhat handle, but others, no way! When I first graduated college I was an intern at a hospital for 6 months. One of the things I got to do was see surgery. I passed out cold on the floor during the first surgery I "saw". I managed to see a couple more after that, but only because I totally psyched myself up and made myself do it. All of that stuff is just such an issue for me! On the other hand, vomit doesn't bother me at all. I can clean that up all day long and not be bothered at all.

my fear is ANY blood. my own or others.
i am a big baby when i have to give blood at the hospital. i cant look and see her stick a needle in my arm and see the blood rise in the little tube. in fact, every time i had to give blood, i passed out cold. i do not know what i am going to do when i am a mother and my child falls down and needs me to tend to their wound. ew. sorry, i cant stand it.
i would NOT stick my face in a vat of cow's blood to grab some silly ring for the slight chance that i might win 10,000. maybe if i was guaranteed i would win it, but on fear factor you can go through all of that and leave with nothing. no thank you.
btw- i love reality tv too. i am a sucker for it. it is mindless and sadly entertaining all at once.

Not a big fan of blood either. Have you seen Blade ? Ugh, that opening sequence gave me nightmares---worse than Carrie b/c they were enjoying it. My blood pressure goes through the roof when I have to give a vial. Last time it was 178/90 and that was when they just mentioned taking blood---I'm sure it was well over 200/90 when the needle showed up. I did almost pass out. But it's not even the sight of the blood itself that gets me when I have to have it taken. I cut myself in the kitchen enough to have become accustomed to the sight of my own blood. It's the actual idea of someone having my blood...weird, I know. But I don't like someone having my blood. Funny, I'm not nearly so possessive of my urine when I have to give a sample of that:p.
I also hate heights. Anything over 3 stories makes me want to pass out.

I've never seen the show and, honestly, I don't plan on watching it. However, my biggest fear is snakes. I don't care if they are nonpoisonous and helpful in the garden. I see a snake and my knees go weak!

Visits to the dentist and anything having to do with eyeballs.

Sometimes we watch, but I NEVER watch the 'eating something disgusting' part. I either leave the room or DH changes the channel.
Probably would have skipped the 'bobbing for rings in blood' if I'd watched that episode.

I got through the bobbing for rings, but when they started eating tomato worms, I almost vomited. We had to change the channel.
When I was in college, I got to watch an autopsy, which didn't bother me. I even ate afterwards. And I am not squemish of blood (mine or others), but eating other creatures (ie.: worms, cow brain, etc.), that makes me squemish.
