Hey everybody,
I have come to wonder what other magazines CL subscribers might have coming to their mailbox each month? This should be interesting.

I have subscriptions to Sunset Magazine (in west only) and Chatelaine (a Canadian woman's magazine). I should have subscriptions to Bon Appetit and what used to be Women's Sports and Fitness, because I buy them every month. My husband has subscriptions to Outside Magazine and Backpacker, and I usually peruse those pages.

I subscribe to Cooks Illustrated and Atlantic Monthly. Cooks Illustrated is a great cooking magazine -- no ads and they do indepth exploration of classic recipes each month trying to find the "ultimate" recipe. It's a wonderful way to see how different elements effect a recipe.

I have had to cut down on my magazines lately. I love to read them but don't always have the time-and they can stack up!

Besides CL, I subscribe to Bird Talk (I'm a "bird mom")and Bon Appetit-but I'm not very happy w/ them as they have still not sent my December issue.

When I contacted them about it, they said that their records said that everything went out and if I have any problems in the future, I should contact the Post office. I am tempted to cancel for that statement.

I also love Sunset Magazine, and I always buy their recipe annual every year.

I live on the pacific coast near San Francisco, but whenever I travel, I pick up a Southern Living magazine. I love the recipes, however, they are usually higher in fat and calories. Southern women seem to have a special talent for cooking, entertaining, and decorating.
I also subscribe to Coastal Living. There are some wonderful recipes and articles in this magazine also.

Woops! Also, National Geographic. My MIL usually brings us her old Money magazines (which I read, but I laugh because at the moment we hardly have 2 sticks to rub together -- but I can dream). http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif

I get Fitness and Parenting. I use to get Quick cooking and Taste of Home, but most of the receipes and very fattening.
I never subscribed to Cooking Light, I had subscribed to Weight Watchers, received one issue than got a cancelation notice saying the mag. was going to stop for awhile. Instead of giving my money back they said they were transfering me to Cooking Light. I never heard of such a thing! I was so angry. Who were they to tell me how to spend my money! I just lucked out that Cooking Light is now my favorite mag.
About a month after this happened, weight watchers said they were back in service and send me a bill for a subscribtion! I couldn't believe. I will never subscribe to their mag. again.

I subscribe to Good Housekeeping (not so good of late), Prevention (some of their recipes are really good), Fortune Magazine - I really miss Eating Well - thought it was a really good one. I cancelled Bon Appetit - the recipes seemed to be too high in fat. By far, CL is the best publication we get.

Well, since I have many nieces, nephews and neighbors who sell magazines for their school fund-raiser I get just about every magazine imaginable I think!
Good Housekeeping, Parents, Family Fun, Health, Woman's Day, Redbook, Ladies Home Journal, Men's Journal (nice pictures!) and a variety of kids magazines.

I'm such a sucker for cute kids at the door!

How is Health magazine anyone? I just got a packet soliciting a subscription in the mail. I read through it and wondered if this stuff was real science or anecdotal.

I get Bon Appetite, Shape, Runners World, Chocolatier, Architectural Digest and Conde Nast Travel. I am going to give up Conde Nast when it runs out and try another one. Does anyone read the National Geographic traveller? My husband gets Natl. Geographic and Smithsonian.

I used to get practically every magazine in print, but I've cut way back - now it's just Cooking Light, BHG, Taste of Home, Shape, National Geographic, and Garden Design.

I currently get CL, Cooks Illustrated which I think is terrific, I really learn the why's and how to's of cooking from this mag. Also Time, BHG, Health, Andrew Weils Newsletter...he's Harvard educated M.D., very much a practitioner of alternative health and medicine; so I figure if you can believe anyone out there regarding alternative stuff, then it would be him. We also get Where to Retire, I'm probably at least 10 years away from retiring, but I'm starting to do research on areas of the country I might like to live in. I too used to get Eating Well and miss it alot. Its recipes were very flavorful, really how I first became aware of how cooking with very fresh ingredients and herbs can make low fat cooking really taste yummy. What happened to this great magazine?? Just got a trial issue of New Age, looks kind of interesting. I think that's it. Good topic.

I guess we are kind of eclectic. We get Ms., The Economist, Red Herring, Writer's Digest and Consumer Reports, plus Cooking Light.

Boy am I a hick or what?! I've never even heard of a lot of these magazines, let alone subscribe to them. I get Taste of Home, Quick Cooking, Country Woman, and just received my first issue of CL last week. My husband gets Field and Stream and National Geographic.

Currently, I get InStyle (my all-time fave), Southern Living, Allure, Vogue, Elle, Town and Country, Real Simple (another winner!), The Chronicle of the Horse and Practical Horseman. I also read Shape, Self, Runners World and random legal journals (unfortunately!)

I'm with kwormann: my favorite magazine is Walking with CL a close second.

My question to all of you multi-mag subscribers is: How in heck do you find the time to read them all? Do you just skim and pick out one or two articles to read or do you stay up nights to read cover-to-cover? I must not be managing my time well.

I am usually far behind with mine. I'm still reading Octobers Architectural Digest. Mind you I have only received one December Magazine so far so it is not as bad as it sounds.

To answer your question about finding the time to read them all, I read for a godd half hour before bed every night--it is my one true "escape" and helps me to relax. I am in law school, an extremely competitive one, and I definitely have a need for purely "mindless" reading to sort of turn my brain off at the end of the day. I also read a lot on planes or in hotel rooms when traveling.

Bon Appetit, In Style, Vanity Fair and Newsweek. I let my subscriptions expire to Talk & Shape.

lsdesign--I get Health magazine and really like it! I used to read Self and Shape at the gym and liked those too...Health is similar to both of them. It has info on exercise, women's health, new herbal-natural remedies, light recipes, career advice, etc. Good healthy women type articles.

I let most of my magazine subscriptions lapse when I started law school in the fall. Now I only get CL and Health (and haven't read the Health since Sept.) and my mom brings me her BHG and Indianapolis Monthly which is nice. Although, I have BHG stacking up since Sept. too...Yikes!
Also--I like to read Budget Travel magazine for fun ideas and it only comes out 4x a year so I can't get too far behind.

hhcowgirl: I know how you feel. Years ago when I was in law school (and had two young children), I craved any reading material that imparted no information and had no socially redeeming value whatsoever. I can't tell you how many Harlequin Romances I read during that period of my life and it was all time stolen from sleep. In fact, the only person who knew I did this was my DH who was sworn to secrecy.

Southern Living (which used to be my favorite food magazine before CL), Bon Appetit, and Cook's Illustrated (just re-subscribed).

I used to be a magazine addict too, but I've pared down over the years to a manageable (for now anyway) amount, and now I've got a few key subscriptions that I just couldn't live without:

World Magazine
Victoria
Today's Christian Woman
CL (obviously!)

Thanks for the fun topic--it's a great way to get ideas & also to learn about each other. I might have to check out Walking magazine...

I'm a real cheapskate. I don't have any subscriptions, but do frequent the library and Chapters for magazines.

My favorites are Health, Country Living Gardener, Marie Claire, Mode, CL, and In Style.

In response to how I get time to read my mags -- I commute an hour on the train each way. That's lots of reading time.
