Swap mates?

I have seen several mentions in postings about swap mates. I am relatively new to the boards, can someone please explain what that is?

Pamela and Kayla....the swap mate mentioning might be the Holiday Swap that we had around Christmas time. Anyone who was interested in a holiday swap posted their yes/no and screen name and one of our BBer did the background work with pairing us up. When we found out who our Holiday Swap person was we privately emailed each other with our addresses and then mailed a package that was mostly regional in content for at least $15.00 and sent them out. If you do a seach, Holiday Swap, you might find some threads including the one that everyone describes the contents in their package. ;) It was a lot of fun shopping for each other and then receiving too. My swap mate was LaraW. :D
