Most of my baking things are in storage (temporary move) and I'm getting ready to bake cookies...is there another successful way to let them cool besides using a wire rack, which I don't have???
HELP QUICK!

Do you have your muffin pans out? I don't have a wire rack, either, and have turned my muffin tins upside down to cool cookies.

unfortunately no...do you think a layer of paper towels or even dish towels would work?

Can you use an oven rack and put in up on something...short glasses, other pans at the edges, over the sink.

I have a friend that cools here cookies on brown paper bags that she has cut open and layed flat.

I was going to mention the brown paper bags also but the oven rack sounds like a good substitute only if you have extra ones. Otherwise, you will need the racks to bake your cookies on. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

I was an adult before I found out you could cool cookies on anything other than a layer of newspaper covered with waxed paper.

I ended up using two of the suggestions...i tore up brown grocery bags and put that over an extra oven rack (whose wires would be too far apart without the paper). It worked out great. Thanks so much all.
BTW..I made the Raspberry Strippers (my husband's favorites!), the Spicy Oatmeal cookies and the Carmel-Pecan Bars and they all turned out well.
