Hanging around waiting to go to the ferry as the first leg of my journey to Montreal and my Amazon order arrives!
I have spent an hour reading through Colorado Collage andall I can say is WOW!! This is a step above the average Junior league cookbook (I love them but this is soemthing else!). Wonderful, original recipes-some fancy, perfect for entertaining and others for everyday! Lots of seafood, salads and breads.
I can't wait to get home and dive into this baby!! All you cookbook addicts should really look at this book.

There is a new one out called Colorado Colores that I saw at Safeway yesterday for $20. Hmmm, I think I might have to get that! ;)

I have Colorado Collage as well. I agree, its a great book. The Junior League has some others called Coloraod Cache and Creme de Colorado, but if I am remembering corectly, Collage has a yellowish cover, right? That's the one I use the most.

I am soOOOOOOO behind the times! I have both Cache and Creme (autographed -- but only because my sister used to be the special events coordinator at the Foley's dept. store predecessor and got to meet the promotional people). There are new book out? Why haven't I rec'd them as Christmas gifts? Do I need to alert my family???

I have one "community" type cookbook from Colorado - called The Best of The Best Of Colorado.

One too many recipes that includes a can of Coca-Cola for my taste.

Kima! You made me go buy it!!! haha (You guys get me in all kinds of trouble...knives, books...wonder what else you'll force me to buy????) :) Wow, that really is one gorgeous book. And the WORK they put into that thing!! All those recipes it says are tested and tested! I love that. (I have Colorado Cache, too...but I don't think I've used it yet.)

While I was at Powell's buying it for $15, I also bought The Western Junior League Cookbook (used)...which is 'the best recipes from the Junior Leagues of the Southwest, the Mountain states, Western Canada, Mexico, California and the Pacific Northwest.' (Mexico? They must mean New Mexico.) There is one from eastern states too, but I liked this one because it has more foods I'm familiar with - (enchiladas and such). It's an older book...but I went a bit crazy over the looks of the recipes. I hope it's been tested as much as the Colorado book has. (BTW: both of my folks were from Colorado...so I feel related to the place.)

Have you made anything from C Collage yet? Has anybody here? It would be fun to hear, if so.

No, I was wrong. That book I bought from Western Junior Leagues DOES include recipes from: The Junior League of Mexico City, Mexico. OMG, I am in heaven. :p

Collage has been out for a while - I received it with the other 2 you've listed as a wedding gift in 1998. Colores is brand new - I think it was just out for Christmas this past year. I looked at it at Borders when I was Christmas shopping.

I'll be happy to get them and send them to you if you want. You can buy them at the grocery stores here.

Lara,

Do you remember any from Colorado Collage (or any of the Colorado's)that you thought were really good? I'm still thumbing through this book... Looks like there is something here for everyone. :)

There are several things I've made out of the books. One of my favorites is a Raspberry Chicken and I make a lemon couscous to go with it. I haven't made a ton of stuff out of it, but I'll keep thinking if there is anything else I can think of.

Powderhorn Potatoes from the Creme de Colorado book is always well received. Definitely not light, but very yummy!

Thanks for the offer. I'll be back out to visit my mom this summer so will thumb through them then at the bookstore. I have LOTS of other good sources for recipes in the meantime. ;)

Jackie, if you decide to get them, go to a Safeway or other grocery store. They are often cheaper at the grocery store for some reason.

This has been one of my favorite cookbooks for years!!! I have made a lot of the brunch recipes and appetizers.
Favorites:
Blueberry Stuffed French Toast really easy and yuuummmmmyyy!
Chile Cheesecake really great to take as a dish somewhere (I mix in some taco seasoning with the sour cream and top it with salsa)
Asian Spring Rolls not enough words to describe :)

I'm really excited to see there are others.. I must make my way to Barnes and Noble.com right now!!!:D
