They also have it later on in black for $199
Check the Friday sale out: great prices this week on Le Creuset, and if you want down blankets, they have them. (I got one a couple weeks ago and it was delivered this week. Wonderful thing!)
P.S.: it qualifies for FREE SHIPPING!!!
(you have to LOOK for where to put the free shipping in when you check out)

I checked out this link since I have been pricing out the Kitchenaid Professional 525 watt mixer. Amazon is selling a reconditioned model for $299 (versus the $369 I see in the stores). Does anyone have advice about the reconditioned units? Would it be a mistake to buy one of these versus just spending the extra bucks (when I have them) for something I will be able to pass on to my kids?
This sale has me very interested.....I've done a bit of looking around and am wondering what the difference is between the 'tilt back' and the 'bowl lift' types (I think that's what they are called). Is either one better? If so, what is the difference?
I am no expert and have not done a whole lot of research on this. But I do think that the tilt back versions are on the lower watt, less powerful models. The Professional 525 watt does not tilt. I don't know why, but it may have something to do with the larger size of the bowl and the inability for the head (or is it arm) to tilt without hitting the bowl.

MLE, if you decide to go the refurbished route, check out the kitchen aid website, they are selling the refurbished 6 qt Epicurian for $220.
I purchased one of these from them around Christmas, they were having a sale. I have not had any problems with mine, and it looks brand new.

If you do a search, there was a Kitchenaid Mixer thread a few months ago (last fall) where several people bought refurbished Kitchanaid 6 qt Professional mixers and were very happy. I almost did, but decided I actually wanted the smaller (5 qt) Artisan with the tilt back head, and they weren't selling those refurbished yet, since they are a new model. I bought mine at Bed, Bath, and Beyond for $200 (because I had a 20% off coupon). Not a bad deal back then. Now it sounds like you can do something similar at Amazon (and not pay sales tax while you're at it). :)

As I understand it the "tilt back" model is 5 qt and that bowl is slightly smaller than the "bowl lift" which is 6 qt. For what it's worth I prefer my 5 qt tilt back model because the beaters (or attachment) come up out of the bowl (and it is usually cheaper than the 6 qt model. It is my understanding that KA does not make a 6 qt with the tilt back feature.
