Hi everyone!
i am at an internet cafe right now in Montreal. DD and I needed some time apart. We get along well but...sharinga small room and being together 42/7 can be tiring. My DD is a night owl and I am not. DD gets up and goes to the bathroom alot etc. Today shopping she gave me a rude look so i said that's it-see ya later! She knows her way around better than i do so no worries there. She is almost 22 as well.
reminds me of the time my younger DD and I went to London; she was 16 at the time. She wanted her own space too-no way was i letting a young 16 year old walk arouund London all by herself!
Montreal is great-the weather has warmed up and so we are walking everywhere!
The stores are very hip, too hip for me and well my hips!:D Every pair of pants I try on are so snug-I can't get my usual size 8/10 up over my thighs! Everything seems t be geared to skinny young things!
I am hapy-i found the April Cooking Light!!! That made me miss you all! So say HI!! I will be here for about half an hour!

Oh it's not too bad-we just need our space at the moment. We are going out for Thai food tonight which should be fun! I want to get home before war breaks out..not that it will directly affect me but I still want to be in familiar surroundings!
Thanks for saying Hi!:)

Hi everyone! It is quite mild here sandy-about 4 deg. Celsius-I don't know what that is in F. It above freezing.
Victoria is really warm according to my husband-T shirts and shorts weather yesterday! Oh well-we are here for the culture and there is plenty of that.
it is strange-so many things are familiar-the money, many of the stores (Timmy's!!) but then everything is different. i am so impressed at how the clerks switch from one language to the other with such ease. I feel like a country bumpkin!
Our hotel is quiet ow but for the first two nights the place was packed with kids from Boston-whooping and hollering at 3am!!!
Oh and the Travelodge is really a glorified dorm-talk about spartan-but hey it's clean-just no ammenities! I miss my bath-we have a dinky little shower. Oh well it's not like we spend much time there.

Hi there :)

Glad to hear you're having such a great time. I suspect my dad and I will need some time apart when we head abroad in 7 weeks (I can't believe it's that soon!) especially since we'll be traveling together for 19 days. But I'm sure it's an experience I'll always remember, much as your DD will. Enjoy your Thai food, yum!

Great Freudian slip! :D

It sounds like a great trip, though. :) Hope you're having fun - and hope your trip home is safe!

HI MAUREEN!!! I was thinking about you today, wondering how your are doing! Aren't internet cafes great?! :D

I miss you on the board and will be glad when you're back, but I'm also glad to hear you're having a great time!! Don't worry about the clothes being too small - I think they are geared for the undeveloped teenage body nowdays!! (At least it's what I like to tell myself! :D

Anyhow, thanks for checking in, WE MISS YOU, and have a great trip back!! I'll enjoy hearing more about it when you return.

Hi Maureen!

You're making me jealous...I lived in Montreal until only a few months ago and I really miss it! Where are you going for Thai?? (My mouth is watering imagining the yummy Thai food there!) I can totally commiserate with your feeling that all the clothes are made for skinny young thighs...that was the one thing I didn't like about Montreal. I'm a size 14 waist and 18 chest and I didn't even bother looking in the vast majority of stores in Montreal, because I knew they wouldn't have any clothes that fit me. Not only was that frustrating, but my self-esteem took a bit of a beating over it. Anyhow, besides that (and the bitter cold winters...but it sounds like you've totally missed that!), Montreal is a FABULOUS city.

Keep us posted if you have a chance to visit an internet cafe again!

Julie :)

Kima - you're so cute to keep us all updated!

I'm so glad to hear that your trip is fairly enjoyable, and I had to laugh when you said you needed time apart from your daughter who's almost 22.

Your relationship sounds all too similar to the one I have with my mother. We take trips like you gals do, and... like you two... though we love each other to death, can have the biggest differences that are just magnified even more when traveling together.

It's awesome though that you can experience something as wonderful as Montreal, just the two of you. My mother and I took that same trip recently... and discovered the same things (about those trendy stores ;))... and like you, when my mom and I split up for a bit, I frequented some internet cafes myself :D

KEEP HAVING FUN!!!

Kayla :)

Glad you are enjoying Montreal, Maureen. It is one of my favorite cities. Where is the Travelodge located? DD1 went to McGill and so we were there a lot. How great that you can bond with DD, and even go your own way now and then. Have a safe trip back.

Maureen,

What fun to see your report from Montreal. It sounds like fun. My daughter is only 16, but I get those moments now. We just push on and in the end we always have a good time, with some highs and lows.

Good timing with the weather and aren't those internet cafes great?

Enjoy the rest of your adventure and have a safe trip home.
