If you're looking for perennials, this catalog was highly recommended to me:

www.bluestoneperennials.com

They're out of Madison, OH, and came with excellent references when I was asking about a good place to get hydrangeas. (I was in my dentist's chair, with gauze packing in my mouth, and the talk went round to gardening. Turns out that one of the technicians used to own her own nursery.)

Anyhow, I went online, requested a catalog and it came yesterday.

I just ordered three hydrangeas and three holly bushes (1 male and 2 female).

The plants come with an excellent guarantee, and are shipped live and growing. They did warn me that the plants aren't huge, but I wasn't looking for huge, but for something I could put in place and fiddle with.

They're charming to deal with and their prices are excellent. They have a buy 2 get 1 free set up, too, so one hydrangea and one holly were free.

Thanks for the link, I just ordered a bunch of plants from Burpee's yesterday but I need to order some hydrangeas, too.

I was told to go with these folks because they sell very hardy hydrangeas that will bloom even after being frozen (some varieties won't).

I think you'll like them!

Thank you Diana. I sent for catalog and then will scan the site later. I love Hydrangeas and prices look great. ;)

Thanks for the link, Diana. I can never have too many gardening catalogs (and I've never heard of this place). :D

Thanks for the link! With 2 houses, I can never have enough perennials!

I just realised, Madison, OH is my best friend's hometown!

Thanks for the link. We just fenced in our whole back area against the deer and was thinking about what I would plant now that I am "safe.

I grew up with Hydrangeas and miss their glorious blooms. Requested a catalog so I can have fun. Nice to know about the hardiness of the plants.
