Anyone out there cooking with wine and/or spirits? CL seems to have a great variety of menus. Has anyone tried any of them. Would be interested in your take on them. I need a "fancy" dish for a New Year's Eve gathering and want to do something different. I'm really tired of greenbean casseroles and cheese nut logs.

The people who are giving the party are rather sophisticated and are savvy about wine and food.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but I made the Chicken Rioja for my foodie friends, and they really loved it. It's a CL recipe, and it's done in a crockpot so you could do up a batch for a crowd with little effort, and the wine gives it a really sophisticated flavor.
