Anybody Done Aikido? Talk to me...

I know it's some kind of martial art but that's the extent of my knowledge. I have a chance to take a class in this and since opportunities for different types of exercise classes are rare in my current circumstances I'm thinking of participating. I took a Tae Bo class one time and really wasn't turned on by an hour of exercising like a member of a street gang. Would I hate Aikido then?

My husband took Aikido for a few years and loved it. The only thing he didn't like was actually having to fight and spar with each other. Flipping and pinning and such. I wanted to take it with him, but he said he didn't want to see me get hurt.:rolleyes:
Anyway, for what I can tell, it is like taking karate....no gang dancing.
