OK, I know we all hate it when we compare who's received the newest issue of Cooking Light. BUT...has anyone out there received their January issue yet? I'm just wondering if I'll be getting mine soon or if they are behind due to the holidays. Thanks (and sorry to everyone who hates these threads....).

You know, I was wondering about this myself. Typically, SOMEONE has their next issue by the 15th of the prior month. Well, the 15th of December came and went a long time ago, and I still haven't heard of anyone who's got their issue....I too, am anxiously awaiting mine! If anyone has theirs, could you let us know? And I also like to hear what the highlights are..... http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Kendra-I'm pretty sure the next issue is a combined Jan/Feb issue, so I'm guessing it won't be mailed until late Jan/early Feb? I honestly can't remember when I got mine last year. I'm looking forward to it, too!

I hope it'll be out sooner than late January! I think, though, that it will be here soon, and that January will be the 'off' month.
I am anxiously checking my mail!

I buy mine from the newstand and was looking for it today - not there yet. A lot of January magazines are not on the stands yet.

I've been watching for mine too. I've received all my other subscriptions for January - I usually get my CL delivered no later than the 20th of each month. That's the one magazine I really look forward to - as if we didn't guess!

I recently ordered a gift subscription for my cousin. I inquired about when she would receive it and customer service replied, "Issues are being sent now and are not considered late until January 7th." So, if this is the case, we should all be receiving it soon http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

I didn't know that it wasn't a monthly subscribtion. Is it only 10 issues a year?
What months do the combine? And why?????

OK, I just looked on the subscription renewal form that they send every other month (I hate that!), and it says a "full year subscription (11 delightful issues)"... so apparently, Jan/Feb is combined. Why, I don't know. Maybe there aren't that many fresh/seasonal items those months to come up with enough recipes to fill two full issues? - just a guess. But I'm sure that's why we haven't received anything yet. You know, before I became addicted to this bulletin board, I never paid any attention to when I got each issue and whether issues were combined or not....now it seems like an eternity between issues!! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif Anyway, I hope they don't wait until the end of January to send them out. I don't think I'll be able to wait that long. Maybe I'll go back to last year's January issue and see what's there to tide me over - I'm quite sure I'll find something there I missed the first time around!

I too am making the daily 'maybe I got my CL today' run to my mailbox. But I have a question. I know we all get sad when they combine Jan/Feb, but didn't they used to combine *more* months? For some reason, I think that several years ago, there were only 9 issues per year. Am I hallucinating? And if so, is anyone else having the same hallucination? http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

CL used to combine November and December as well. In 2000, there were 11 issues, including a Jan.-Feb. issue. All, and that one in particular, appeared thicker than the previous year, judging from how they fit in my magazine holders. Not sure if that is more copy, more ads or both.

When I first started getting CL in 1996, it was only 9 issues per year. They combined Jan/Feb, June/July (?), and Nov/Dec. Maybe they'll come out with 12 issues per year in the future, although I imagine they deserve a little break each year. I'd rather they combine an issue than sacrifice quality to get more stuff out per year. Even for the combined issues I usually get them at the end of the month before first month in a double issue - I can't wait until the middle of January! So I guess we're all in the same boat waiting for our next issue - I hope I get it before this cold snowy weekend in Ohio so I have something to keep me occupied! Thanks for all of your replies! My guess for why they combine Jan/Feb is because of the holiday season just prior. It might require more work in the test kitchens, etc. to put out Nov and Dec issues because they produce those huge holiday meal articles (yum!), and thus they need a break for January.
