Great theme - We love seafood, shellfish, and fish in general. I'll do salad. See you in July!

Sheryl, I don't have specific recipes yet, but I'll be doing a whole fish and maybe some shellfish (mussles, clams, etc.). Whatever you make to go with it will be delicious I'm sure.

I still haven't heard from Trish...are we 4 couples again?
Does anyone need directions?

Hi
I'd like to do dessert instead of salad if it's ok with everyone. I doesn't seem to be picked. Looking forward to Saturday. The weekend is supposed to be beautiful!

See you all Saturday!

Glad we are going to have a full group. Stef, although you might not get this until it is too late, I was curious what your clambake consisted of. I am making an orzo dish, stuffed tomatoes and was thinking of perhaps corn on the cob with seasoned butter. However, that might be part of your clambake. I will check my blackberry later today to see if you had a chance to respond. See everyone tomorrow.

Sheryl, you got me before I went to the beach. No, my clambake does NOT have corn in it, but it does have zucchini (homegrown!). It also has clams, mussels, scallops and shrimp. I'm also making grilled salmon. I think corn on the cob would be a great addition!!
Trish, I have a soup tureen too if you decide to do soup.

I think I am still full from all the great food we had last night!!
Stef and Greg, Thanks for hosting. You did a great job.
Sheryl - I have to cater a lunch for 16 Monday and I thought your orzo was so so good I tried to recreate it. I did OK but yours is definitely better!
Since Sheryl was gracious enough to give up her turn so I can have the next dinner out on the deck, I wanted to get the date out there. Either the weekend before Labor day (August 26) or the Saturday after (September 9) are good for us. What works for everyone else?

Stef, thanks again. Your meal was delicous. I am still smelling the wonderful herb aroma that came out of that pot. I might try making a mini version of that for me and John one night soon. From appys to dessert, everything was wonderful...as usual. I am taking some unofficial classes at my professor's home in between semesters, so tonight when she asks me what I did over the weekend, I will glady brag about our wonderful meal (in Italian, of course.) Everyone in the class will be jealous.
Robin, I would prefer 8/26 as we might be going to Boston on the 9th, but pick whatever works best for the majority. Enjoy the summer!

Kudos to everyone for the wonderful dinner on Saturday, every course was excellent. I only wish I had multiple stomachs so that I could have eaten more!!
Robin, Sept 9th works better for me since Aug. 26th is Kelsey's birthday. Whatever works better for everyone else we'll try to manage.

We had a wonderful evening - thanks to Stef and Greg and everyone's cooking! The salmon was superb. Sheryl, I'm going to try your orzo side as a salad at our lu-wow.
Robin, I'm working both 8/26 and 9/9 but August will be impossible for me to get off. I should be able to work something out for September though.
Stef - I'm very interested in hiring your server. I'll email you my number so s/he can call me.

Not going to Boston after all, so either dates works for us. Hopefully we can decide soon so I can mark one or the other on my schedule.

Annette - Thanks for your interest. Unfortunately, we are not looking for any new members at this time. We have gotten inquiries from other people looking for clubs in the area. Maybe you can start a new group?
Good Luck.

As it urns out, now I can't do 8/26. I can't host any other dates until October but could attend dinner on September 30. Sheryl, can you host then and I'll do later in the fall?

As usual guys, I have not been notified of the message board activity. Greg and Stephanie thanks for a great night....I talked all week to my memebers about the salmon on the cedar!!! I guess I will wait till I hear further in regards to what dates are good. We are pretty open except for Labor day weekend. I will keep checking back......

Hi everyone. Not sure when Robin sent her message, as we were away on vacation. I think the 30th of September works for us. So can everyone else confirm back if that is good for them and we will be happy to host at our house.

Sep 30 will be tight for us. We have an afternoon Cub Scout event, but we're going to try. Do you have a theme yet, Sheryl?
SherylH
08-15-2006, 12:18 PM
Kathy thinks date/time will work for them too, so we are all in. Good.
I put my thinking cap on and came up with 7 themes. I let John pick from the 7 and he picked "Go ahead, impress me--show your talent" theme. This is outside the box so I hope no one is rolling their eyes. I will be keeping the other 6 ideas in my aresenal for future dinners. I am not 100% sure yet which dishes I will be making to "impress" you all, but as of now I think I will be doing my favorite "forever roasted pork" which cooks for 8-9 hours and smells up the house beautifully with fennel and other herbs and some sort of ravioli...perhaps something like pumpkin ravioli with walnut cream sauce.
Is everyone ok with this loose theme? See everyone on 9/30.

Hey guys,
We will do sides.......Sheryl, is the pork a definite? I would like to do something that goes well with your main dish.
See you on the 30th!

Trish, I think I will stick with the pork, so you can plan your sides with that in mind. Might change the type of ravioli/pasta, but that should not affect your sides.

Hi Everyone,
I think I would rather have appetizers. Since no one else took that I would like to change our selection to appetizers.
Have a good weekend
Trish
