I went to a Christmas party that had tomato/basil wraps layered with cream cheese and smoked salmon, then rolled and sliced and topped with a little bit of fresh dill. Very yummy and pretty and I can't imagine why they couldn't be made a head of time. (You would probably want to put the dill on at the last minute just to keep it looking fresh.)
Appetizers has got to be one of the most popular topics on this board. If you haven't run a search, please do. There are SO MANY truly wonderful suggestions. Just between June and November, here are only a few of the threads on the subject and if that isn't enough, there are tons more (seafood crostini, stuffed mushrooms and all manner of great-sounding party fare on the two pages of listings beyond November 15.)

Thank you for all of the links. I had explored some of them a while ago, but just glancing through again, I found some great stuff.
Lorilei, thank you so much for the houston's spinach dip recipe! I've recently become addicted.
Happy New Year!
For a small New Year's Eve party (10-12), I'm hoping you wonderful people out there can provide me with your favorite appetizer ideas. We're already set with spicy chicken wings, and the spinach and asiago dip with crostini.
It's an after dinner party so I'm hoping to just have a bunch of snacking things beyond chips and dip. So that I get to enjoy the party too, items that I can make ahead are a definitely a plus.
Thank you.

I'm hosting a party for about the same number of people and some of the things I'm planning to have are the spinach balls (can be frozen and then heated when you need them), hummus, pork and peanut wontons from the make ahead issue, the reuben dip from another thread, and possible the artichoke nibbles or artichoke dip. Most of this I will be able to prepare Saturday and then just pull them out and heat them up as needed.
Hope this helps!
