I'm about to start making dinner and it calls for a 3inch cinnamon stick. I only have ground cinnamon. I checked on foodsubs.com and it says that 1 cinnomon stick equals 1/2 tsp ground. But, I don't know how long a regular stick is.

Any ideas how much I should sub? I'm guessing probably 1/4 tsp.

I would say a regular cinnamon stick is about 3 inches long, so I'd go with the 1/2 tsp. ground.

P.S. What's for dinner ? :)

Rogan Josh! :D I'm on a major Indian kick lately.

I'm debating whether to run to the store and get some sticks. I wonder if it gives a slightly different flavour?

Cinnamon sticks don't have as strong a flavor as ground cinnamon, so I would just add the cinnamon to taste if you can. Not sure what it is you're making and if you can do that!

Thanks jm1717. I was actually halving the recipe so I just used 1/4 tsp. That seems about right.
