View Full Version : I'm Confused (AOL Message Boards)

Last night I logged onto these boards from my home computer for the first time. I have AOL at home, and the boards looked terrible (there were even several complaint letters). It was the new format that I thought CL was moving everyone to. The organization was terrible, you couldn't view all of the threads previewed, and the old threads were gone - it was just awful. I logged in today from work (where I don't have AOL), and everything is back to normal and looks great. Did CL actually listen to the feedback about the new boards and put the old format back, or are AOL users getting a special preview of the new boards? Just to let you know, if it was a preview and that is how things are going to be in the future no matter which ISP you use, our community is about to disappear - those boards were practically unusable and worthless. Does anyone have any insight into this?

Valerie, I have the same thing going on where I have AOL at home, but not at work. I don't understand it, either!

And what about all of our poor friends who only have AOL right now? They probably don't even know the rest of us are still here using the regular boards! We can't see everything that they posted on the weird new board! I'm glad I tried it today at work, but I wonder how long non-AOL users will be able to view this format...

They did have a post there that had a link to these boards. I forget which one it was under, but I did eventually find it. I don't like that other format. It's horrible!

Valerie -
I think JenniferCL said that the AOL boards are separate from these boards. Of course, if you log on through AOL, you wouldn't know that, since the link on the BB from the home page takes you directly to the AOL boards. However, the "back door" or link (if you're not on AOL) brings you to these boards. I haven't been on AOL since the first day they started requiring the password, but was thinking that we should put the link up for those who don't know. (Especially those "oldies" who may not have checked in in awhile, and the "newbies" who don't know any different.)

I have AOL and was very upset when I first logged on because I thought I lost these boards. Jennifer from CL was very helpful and we have to log into this site
http://community.cookinglight.com/
and the board comes up just like old times!!

I'm on AOL and I'm here! Thanks guys for pointing out I can still get here even though I'm on AOL. They really need to make that more clear.

I use AOL too, but haven't had a problem with the old boards. I continued to use my old link to this site. The only thing I had to do was log in again and then I went ahead and updated my profile with my AOL address. I haven't seen the new boards at all.

You won't want to see the new Cookinglight Boards on AOL. Talk about confusion and a mess. The first time I saw them, I thought there goes the end of "Cooking Light"--who has time for all the unnecessary navigation and all the pop ups? Fortunately, I've been using the provided link and accessing via that trail.
