Kelsy has finally given me the results of the poll you all so kindly helped her with over the holidays: http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/Forum1/HTML/003113.html

She was so pleased with her results. She even took it a step further and calculated the results from "real" people, "web" people and total. Now these are Kelsy's words---not mine. She defines "real" as people she actually spoke to in person (like me). I actually fall in two categories, but she kindly chose to count me as "real". But you'd be interested to know that you (the "web" people) represented 65% of her total answers, and she identified the "Cooking Light Bulletin Board" as her sole source for "web" people.

Because we figured you'd be more interested in the "web" results, here's how your answers tallied up:

67 users responded to BB poll.
1 didn't count (not all five questions were answered - Kelsy is tough)
Total: 66

Question 1 - What is your favorite Christmas Carol?
First Place: O Holy Night 18 votes (27%)
Second Place - Tie: Carol of the Bells and Silent Night - 4 votes each or 6% each
Third Place - Tie - Away in a Manger and The Christmas Song - 3 votes each or 5% each
All the rest of the songs each had 2 or less votes, but they represented 52% of the total.

Question 2 - What is your favorite holiday beverage, egg nog, wassail, or hot apple cider?
First Place - Hot Apple Cider - 33 votes or 50%
Second Place - Egg Nog - 27 votes or 41%
Third Place - Wassail - 6 votes or 9%

Question 3 - What is your favorite holiday cookie?
First Place - All types of "Sugar" Cookie (decorated, frosted, etc.) - 16 votes or 24%
Second Place - All types of "Ginger"Cookie - 10 votes or 15%
Third Place - All types of "Shortbread" cookies - 7 votes or 11%
Russian Teacakes (Mexican Wedding cakes, etc.) - 6 votes or 9%
Any cookie that had a peanut butter and chocolate combination - 4 votes or 6%
Spritz cookies - 4 votes or 6%
There were 19 cookies with only one vote each (29%)

Question 4 - Have you seen the 1947 movies "Miracle on 34th Street"?
Yes - 49 (74%)
No - 17 (26%)

Question 5 - Do you believe in Santa Claus?
Yes - 46 (70%)
No - 11 (17%)
No, but believe in the spirit - 9 (14%)

Again, I thank you all for helping my niece. And Kelsy also wishes to say thank you, and to extend a Happy New Year to all.

I am interested to see if the "real" people had as many cookie variations as the web people, since this is the CL bulletin board!

Thanks for posting the results. I actually was wondering about this!

Mrs Reber,
Kelsy is at Disneyland right now, but I'll talk to her when she returns. I did look over her results, and I remember that "Frosty the Snowman" was the #1 song for "real" people and combined. I thought that was interesting. The "real" people included lots of kids her age.

I do remember the #1 cookie overall was still Sugar cookies. I guess everybody loves sugar cookies. If I remember correctly, she had a very high percentage of Sugar Cookies for "real" people--something like 75%, so there were not a lot of variations like the "web" people had. She commented that the web people liked "wierd" cookies (again her word). She had never heard of Lebkuchen cookies, Hello Dolly's or Chow Mein Cookies. She really liked the sound of "Forgotten Cookies", but quite honestly I've never heard of that one either. BTW, what are they?

Also, there was not a single "web" vote for Snickerdoodles (her favorites), but she was really pleased with our choice for #1 Christmas carol. Kelsy loves "O Holy Night" and sings that song like an angel. She has a beautiful voice!

Forgotten Cookies are meringue cookies that are put in the oven, the oven is turned off and they are left (forgotten) 8 hrs. of overnight. Mine taste like Toll House crossed with meringue. Let me know if you want a recipe.

Kentgirl, thanks for the reply. I guess we on the BB do like "weird" things. I never heard of forgotten cookies, either. I'd probably forget to take them out of the oven the next day!
