Can things like canned waterchestnuts be frozen? I like using them in stir frys, but never use a whole can it seems like such a waste to put them in the garbage or compost.

I have never tried freezing them, but I would imagine it would be ok. Probably freeze with juices. As an alternative, I have seen them sold in small cans. Maybe buy the small size next time.

Julia. I always use 1 whole can and I buy the small can. Its a great addition to stir fry.

Julia - I've never tried freezing leftover water chestnuts, but I find that they keep well in the refrigerator for about a week if I put them in a tightly covered dish with the liquid from the can.
