Hi Kathy! Some storm, eh? I though the same thing you did "let's see if the weathermen are right this time!". I just love snow. My husband and I were outside for an hour or so this morning. I can't help him shovel in my current condition- I had a bit of bleeding one day, too, so the dr told me to take it easy for a week! We got in the truck this afternoon and one of my favorite little places was open for lunch, so we got to eat and drive around a bit. Then we came home and I've been a couch potato ever since. Even took a nap! I just loved sitting inside and watching the snow fall. It really is beautiful. Hope the kids aren't driving you crazy!

Happy New Year Mrs. R! I am sorry I didn't respond earlier! I joined a gym in Manasquan yesterday so I was there with my sister most of the day. I had bleeding with all of my kids; I think it is fairly common. How are you feeling? I love the snow! My kids are having a ball, especially my husband!!! Back to the gym today. I ordered one of those Cooking Light Planners..can't wait until it gets here! I need all the help I can get!!!

Happy New Year to you too, Kathy! Good for you, joining a gym. I wish I could get back to my gym, but my body won't permit it. Everytime I feel good and I try to exercise, it kills me the next day. We went for a walk and out to dinner yesterday and today I feel exhausted. Oh well. Yes, they told me bleeding was not uncommon, but that I should take it easy for a week. I have my next dr's appointment and a sonongram on the 8th. We don't want to know the baby's sex, so hopefully we won't see anything that we don't want to see! We'd rather be surprised, but I really am curious. Hope you are enjoying your time at the gym. I can't wait to get back there and get some exercise myself!

It's been a while since I've had a chance to do more than quickly look at the BB. It has been crazy lately. I finally found a couple of minutes to myslef and am getting caught up. I am glad to see you are all doing well.
We've been trying to enjoy the snow. I kept thinking as I was shoveling the driveway for the third time on Saturday that 4 years ago I was in labor at that exact time. (My daughter was born 12/31). Mrs. Reber, you are very lucky to be having a spring/summer baby. About the only things we did for the first couple of minutes was walk around the mall!
I am not a winter weather fan but my daughter is fasinated by the snow. We built her an igloo in the piles we ended up with after shoveling. It was fun.
Kathy - I live in Manasquan. What gym did you join? TAC? I've been a member there for a while and really enjoy it.
Take care.

Hi Robin! We really enjoy the snow. My sister used to hate snow, but now she does have fun in it with her two kids. I guess it helps when you have children who are so intrigued by it. I keep hearing that I'm lucky not to be pregnant during the summer and not to have to carry the baby around on the ice in the winter. I would like a fall or winter baby, though. Maybe because my birthday is in late November. I have trouble breathing now, though, I can't imagine how it'd be in the heat. When will the sinus congestion go away? Help! The doctor's office says it's normal and there's not much I can take for it. Oh well. I'll just have to suffer for a little longer. Giving birth still terrifies me to no end. For some reason, my husband is finding so many movies and shows where there's a woman giving birth. I keep telling him to turn them off for now. He never used to watch them before! I worry a little bit since I have mitral valve prolapse and any stress or adrenaline in my blood affects my heart. Hopefully it'll all work out just fine. My husband has alot of confidence in me. Sure, he gets the easy part! Hope everyone had a great holiday season!
I am so envious of all of you w/snow!! My little corner of MD just missed the snow. I was up a few times Fri nite / Sat AM checking for snow, but no such luck. I remember deep snowstorms as a child, and want the same for my kids, sledding and all that. (However, one of my children needs boots & snowpants, of which there are none to be found - bad mommy). I keep hoping we'll get some later this winter, there is nothing like being home in a storm, or going to bed knowing that its snowing. Anyway, enjoy your snow, you lucky ducks! sally

Mrs. R, I was on bedrest with all 3 of my kiddies for at least part of the pregnancies...it is frustrating not being able to exercise, but definitely worth it! Hang in there!
Robin, yes, that is the one! I am going tonight once my sitter gets here. I am attempting to train my daughter and I don't think they would appreciate any puddles!!!We are thinking of moving to your area...possibly Brielle..depends on the school situation. (My son needs certain factors)maybe I will see you at the gym! Happy Birthday to your daughter!
Sally, Come on over! My kids would love the company!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! We had a (barely) white Christmas, but sure had a white New Years! Thank goodness for snowblowers! We high-tailed it back to NJ from Maryland on Friday to beat the storm; we're glad we did. Sal, I don't know where your corner of MD is, but my brother (Bowie) and friends (Ellicott City)didn't get any snow either. We got enough for everyone -- I measured 15 1/2 inches and it snowed for another hour or two after that! That's one thing I'd worry about with a winter baby (like me, in February); I'd be afraid I'd go into labor in a snowstorm! Happy New Year, everybody!

Mrs R - What they say is true - I thought labor was no fum at all - but well worth the effort. I am guessing from your medical history you will be delivering at a hospital (versus a birthing center or at home) - which one? I was at Jersey Shore but a number of my friends had their babies at at Brick and Riverview and have been very happy. My DH is on staff at JSMC and people kept stopping in when they heard I was there. What a pain!
Kathy - I am almost always at the gym on Saturdays (intro to step at 10) and Sundays (body pump at 10) and try to get there at least 2 other days during the week. Believe it or not, my daughter often motivates me to go. They have a pretty good babysitting setup and my daughter will ask me to take her there to play. How can I say no? I plan on going Friday morning, about 8:30. Maybe I'll see you there!

Robin, I am going to Brick for delivery. My doctor's office is across the street on Jack Martin Blvd and they don't go to any other hospital. My friend just had a baby at Brick about two weeks ago, but she had a horrible experience (or so she always tells me). I think it's more her doctors, though, and not the hospital itself. I hear that Brick is very updated and has equipment for all kinds of emergencies, so I feel good about that. We'll get the tour when we go for child birth classes in April. I can't imagine my husband going to these classes with me. It's a whole new world for him.
Waaaah- I used to love step classes, but my gym doesn't have them. They did away with them and now they just do trekking and spin. Of course, I am not able to do either one of those right now, either. I believe I am actually finally sick with my husband's cold.

Mrs. R, people are always more interested in telling you frightening stories than happy ones! I am sure you will be fine! Many people have told me they would not have had more than one child if they had experienced my pregnancies...I would do it again in a minute! I will admit, I could do without the toilet training; but you can't beat your child's putting their arms around you and saying, "Mom, I REALLY love you!"
Robin, that would be pretty good; I could use an exercise buddy too! Weekends are pretty tough at 10:00 between my husbands commitments and my teaching Sunday school. I am sure we will bump into each other at some point. I will be the tubby on the respirator! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

Mrs R - my husband's office is across the street from Brick Hospital too. Hopefully, you'll never need to see him though.
Kathy - I got into the routine of going to the gym on the weekends when I commuted to Newark for work. Even though I work locally now and can get there during the week I got hooked on those classes (tho I won't make either of them this week). I expect to be in the fitness room Monday morning though - probably between 9 and 10.

Hi Mrs. Reber - I too have mitral valve prolapse - for as long as I can possibly remember, and probably have forever - I have 3 very healthy children, childbirth is something 'one' thinks they will dread, ultimately I believe most women feel every second is/was totally worth it and if I am correct - you forget immediately when you look into that little face for the first time - then you go on and have 2 - 3 (however many more) and the same miracle happens! btw spotted during each pregnancy - I promise you will be just fine!
As far as SNOW goes - we have tons here in Toronto and is coming down as I type - I love it - love watching it come down at night under a street light - something about that! You will be just fine, be good to yourself http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Mrs. R and Elaine, I have mitral valve prolapse as well. I didn't even know I had it until my doctor told me. It is funny, my mother was told she had mitral valve prolapse for many years; she suffered a heart attack three years ago (treated at JSMC, excellent, may I say, Robin!)and was told she does not have mitral valve prolapse. Weird, huh?! So, I guess, I MAY have mitral valve prolapse! You will be fine, Mrs. R!
Robin, I feel like I know you from Manasquan...where do you work? Do you work in Manasquan? My mom had a bunch of stuff catered by the place on Main Street. My husband and I played paddle tennis last night at the ATC...so much fun! I am starting the weight loss program tomorrow! Say a prayer and remember...911 and send me to Jersey Shore!

Thanks for all the posts- my sister had alot of bleeding with her first and she was just fine- no bed rest, even. I am afaid of labor with mitral valve prolapse. I was in the hospital 10 years ago because of it. My heart gets pretty wacky. I was on medication for about seven years, too. I just came off it maybe three years ago. My heart went crazy one day when I was 21. The doctor thinks it was beating too fast for it to pump any blood. I still say it stopped and didn't start up soon enough. Anyway, I passed out, fell forward so my tongue blocked my airways and woke up when the ambulance was on the way. Oddly enough, my boyfriend at the time decided to stop over that morning for breakfast. He wasn't supposed to have been there- he called 411. Yes, that's 411, he was too frazzled to call 911, but 411 did get him an ambulance. I've been much better lately, but any real stress on my body makes my heart beat very irregular. But I'll be in a hospital, so I guess it'll be okay.
Kathy good luck with the exercise! I went to the gym yesterday and did some walking on the treadmill. I felt really good afterwards so I may go back tomorrow morning before we go for the second sonogram. How exciting!!

Mrs. R, sounds very frightening. Doctors are very cautious..they won't take any chances.I am sure you will be fine!
The gym was okay; the girls lovd the sitting...Thank God! Life is so much easier without worrying about my son!Now if only I could come up with a good eating plan!
