This is very good and goes together pretty easy-loved the crunch of the topping! But I really don't see the point of soaking the peaches in sugar-water, then draining them. And I don't see the point of adding honey to already sweet vanilla yogurt. Okay, if the peaches aren't sweet enough, why not just sprinkle with a little sugar, because the lemon peel and vanilla that was in the sugar-water really wasn't noticeable. The topping is what made this special and you could use it on any fruit and yogurt combo.

Because it's LIGHT! And if it's light, you gotta add LOADS AND LOADS of sugar, or nobody will LIKE it. :p

Sorry. The excess of sugar is one of my biggest quarrels with CL dessert recipes.

Terry,

I'm always so amazed with how many recipes you try! And I love your reviews.

I agree, though---why would you need to soak your peaches in sugar water? To me, peaches are so wonderfully sweet to begin with, they don't need much else. Maybe I'll tinker with the recipe a bit and give it a try. Thanks for your suggestions.

I was going to make this until I noticed the amount of sugar. 3/4 cup PLUS the sugar in the yogurt for 4 peaches!?! Just wanted to know if Kristal or anyone else has tried this with less sugar?

I can't find this recipe in my July '03, CL. What page is it on?

I haven't tried it, yet, but I think Terry's comments were helpful. I would skip the sugar step altogether, and maybe just sprinkle the peaches with a little bit if they aren't as sweet as you would like. I'll probably try this one later in the summer, when peaches are more plentiful around here.

Thank you so much. It was driving me crazy - I still can't find it in the index but at least I know where the recipe is.

It's under the Main Dishes - vegetarian in the index. It's supposedly a breakfast dish that's "tasty enough for dessert."
