I received a William Sonoma Immersion Blender for Christmas. It is fantastic. I don't know what I did before this. I made a wonderful Butternut Squash soup today. It pureed up in seconds. In the past I would have been trying to pour it from the pan to the food processer to puree. This is the best. Now I am looking for more way to use it - any suggestions are welcomed!

Bean dip, orange juice from concentrate, salad dressings, instant pudding, milkshakes, I made a yummy gaspacho with mine today. My husband had jaw surgery on Dec. 22 and we have used our immersion blender at every meal!
PS don't try to chop nuts with it! You will end up with nut-dust everywhere.
Hi Rustysmom. I too received an immersion blender for Christmas - what a great gadget. So far I have used it for smoothies, peanut sauce, and split pea soup. I bet it would work great for making baby food too. An added bonus is that it is so much easier to clean than a blender.

I use mine for pureeing canned tomatoes right in the pot when I make a sauce. What a time and energy saver.

I've had one for years but don't really use it because the mess I made the first couple times I tried to use it :-( It was really hard to find the required depth, I seemed to go too deep or not deep enough and it was a disaster. Tips would be appreciated

I use mine most often for smoothies and soups.
Does anyone have any good tips for cleaning the blade area?
As for tips for using it--make sure you're not using too shallow of a bowl/pot. Mine works best when its immersed halfway up to the handle.

This must have been the year of the WS immersion blender. I was also given one for Channukah. I used it when I made butternut squash soup last night. Tomorrow night I'm making carrot soup. It's my new favorite kitchen toy.
Hi Jill - I keep a toothbrush by the sink for cleaning the hard-to-get-at places and it works great for the blender blade area. Now if I could find a way to clean the inside bottoms of my tall, slender flower vases...

I have had my blender since Sept. and I agree, what did I do before this. It makes great fresh bread crumbs. I used it to cover chicken, it comes over more crispery. I used roll and rye bread. Great gadget. - Theresa

I've loved mine for years - milkshakes, salad dressings, pureed canned tomatoes, puree soup in the pot (great for black bean soup), whatever - it's great & so easy! I've even used it to turn oatmeal in to oatmeal powder for the Neiman Marcus cookies.

I also use mine for guacamole. It works perfectly, although now my brother complains because there are not enough lumps.
