This turned out really great--if you like trail mixes, etc. you will love this--sweet though, not very salty--i thought about sprinkling some salt on after it came out of the pan, but didn't--wish i would've! i didn't have an cardamom so i used a pinch of nutmeg and i only cooked it over medium heat for about 3-4 minutes after you add then nuts--mine started to burn and i was basically stirring it constantly. I added 1/2 raisins and 1/2 dried cherry-flavored craisins. Very yummy and easy to make! Amanda

Thanks for posting this review. I just got the July issue last night and was definitley eyeing that delicious looking trail mix. I love trail mix, but it's a rather dangerous thing to have around. Do you think it will keep well? Also, do the nuts and fruits kind of clump together when the glaze is applied? It kind of looks like they do in the picture.

Sorry it took me so long to reply--busy weekend of stripping wallpaper and DH's cycling races. This recipe looks exactly like the picture and it is very sticky, not like typical trail mix. But it's a nice change for sure! I think it will keep fine IMO, i am just keeping it in a plastic ziploc on the counter and it hasn't gotten soggy, etc--still sticky and delicious! :D If you aren't a fan of sweet you might want to cut back on the honey, it will all get coated enough without the max amt, i think!
